Situated in the only square in the old town. The food is simply amazing! We sat outside had a bottle of wine and plenty of food to eat and the bill was 47 euros.

The small plate of seasonal rise for 5 Euro’s is effectively truffle risotto and its incredible!!!!

The duck with cherry chutney was out of this world.

I’m told the tomato salad is also very good but sadly was not in season when we went.

San Sebastián is full of incredible food and this restaurant was no exception.

Worth booking a table as it gets very besy

Our family of four stayed almost 48 hours in San Sebastian, an evening, a full day and then the better part of the day after. We didn't have much time there, but it was a destination we had wanted to visit, so a little time was better than no time!

We like to eat. Wi-fi and good food is our thing. So we really wanted to visit the area and try their pinxtos (like tapas, small servings). Unfortunately, we are somewhat shy, and when we walked through the old town on the first night, we passed by many pintxo bars but didn't go into them...they felt a bit intimidating since we didn't know the language(s), and the popular bars we'd read about already seemed busy with customers.

Finally, after walking in various directions along the streets of the old town, we ended up at Astelena, or A 148. We learned later (from taking a private pintxo tour the next day) that it was a well-established bar, but to us it just seemed friendly, well-lit, cozy.

What a great choice it was, especially as it was our first pintxo bar, our first night in San Sebastian. One of the servers behind the bar made us feel so welcome. He gave us a menu shortly after we found a place at the crowded bar, and after a few minutes came back to take our order. Because we didn't know what to order, I just asked for all of page one. He paused and said, would you like me to give you some recommendations? We said yes. He proceeded to suggest some of his favourites. We tried all of them, and ordered drinks as well.

Well, everything was so so delicious. I really appreciated that he took the time to help us, I'm sure he sees so many tourists (and locals) each year, and yet he treated us like we were his first customer. That and at the end, our bill came to 37 euros (which included the alcohol!).

Thank you so very much for making our first pinxto bar experience, and our first night in your beautiful city, so wonderful. We wish you all the best.

The food is great! Pintxos are extremely good- tuna woth foie gras, risotto with truffles, duck with pineapple, pork with pumpking, amazing octopus with potato.. all in all great place when you want to eat good but in a cosy and charming atmosphere. Great wine recommendations, great Cider!
Crowded but very fast employees also charming and responsive which add up to the whole experience. Super people watching because its on a corner of the square inside old town..

We went here because were with some friends and we wanted to be go somewhere good, nice and good prices. Astelena148 is located in the Plaza Constitución in the heart of the Parte Vieja and we had a blast. We had la Burrata, Arroz de Temporada (risotto-ish with foie), las carrilleras, cubos de atun con foie... if you go to Donostia, you definitely have to go.

We came across this place on our first evening in San Sebastian after hitting a few pinxtos bars in the area. The menu is great and they have a decent wine and cocktail selection. The outdoor seating area is amazing and was what really brought us in. We started with a bottle of Albarino - perfectly fresh for the occasion, and for starters had the tuna and foie appetizer. Loved the combo, however I noticed a trend of drenching the foie in soy sauce....several places do this and it's just not necessary. Just go with a fruit base or compote....
Mains were the octopus with potatoes (which was amazing - octopus grilled to perfection!) and the beef pineapple (which was ok, but not nearly as good as the octopus). Overall, it was a decent meal. Would recommend for the atmosphere!
