The meal was okay. In hindsight, for over €40 a head we would have been better tackling the pintxos that are on offer everywhere else.

Last night in Donostia following a family wedding we were directed to this place. Very friendly staff, service somewhat chaotic. Food was good but not exceptional. Was disappointed in my sautéed vegetables. Had been boiled before being presented swimming in oil. Four others very happy with their starters. Mains, mainly steaks, good. Desserts, a mix, nice. Chef came out to talk which we gathered was not unusual so not overly flattered. Wasn't until we returned home I discovered the price of the breadrolls, a euro each, which I think is outrageous as, even though they are usual, a second helping of them was not asked. Given the price of starters and mains, a few, gratis, would have been nice.

The bartender at the Maria Cristina Hotel recommended we walk to Old Town and try this Restaurant at lunchtime. Though the locals were packed into the pintxos bar in the front, we made our way to the back room and had the most incredible fresh fish, cider and beautiful 15 year old spanish wine !!! The chef came out to greet us on our way out and i can highly recommend this fine restaurant in an enchanting and fascinating city. The locals love it as well!

The quality of the food was very good as usual in the region but the prices were high. The quality of the food was not different than the tapas bars that people usually goes during the day, which were much cheaper than this restaurant.
But if you are tired of standing while eating tapas and looking for a nice sea food restaurant, you may try this.

Great variety of pintxos served by a very congenial host. All the pintxos not only looked amazing, they were also really tasty. The place had a great atmosphere and seemed to be frequented by locals. You could even sit at a table rather than just standing at the bar! A really enjoyable experience.
