Our first stop with San Sebastian Pintxos Tours, the white asparagus tempura and Basque sausage in a pastry crust (basically pig-in-a-blanket!) were recommended, along with a glass of txakoli. The asparagus was particularly good. The Basque sausage was good, but ... basically pig-in-a-blanket! Txakoli was perfect for the first drinks of the night. Ganbara has a nice selection of mushrooms, which unfortunately we did not try ... probably a mistake on our part.

Easy to find, and the great presentation invites you into one of the best pintxo bars in Donostia......fresh and of course don`t forget the great variety of fungi they usually have.....More than recommended

Everything is delicious here. The specialty are mushrooms, but they have a large variety of tapas and appetizers that you'll keep dreaming of. Simply the best of San Sebastian!

Excellent pintxos and friendly bar ambiance upstairs, but the real treat is the restaurant downstairs. The monkfish a la plancha for two was perfect and we enjoyed it with a good bottle of Albariño. The service was attentive; neither stuffy nor intrusive. Our friend had the shrimp; also delicious. This is also one of the few places to get homemade cheese ice cream (helado de queso); a delight. Nothing fancy; just excellent ingredients, expertly prepared. Who could ask for more?

I only had one dish here but it was hard to beat. They had such an impressive display of mushrooms on the bar that I had to order a plate. They're very good mushrooms and therefore not cheap, but I ate up these quickly sauteed treats along with the rich sauce (egg yolk? cheese? couldn't tell for sure) accompanying them.
