“Bad value for money”
Reviewed April 30, 2013 via mobile

Small room, no view, noisy air conditioning and paper thin walls.
No iron in room.
Staff not particularly friendly or helpful.
Service in the bar very slow.
Good location - other than that a very poor hotel

We got a good deal on a "triple room" which actually turned out to be a twin room with a roll out bed crammed in so it was a bit cramped. The room was clean and quiet but perhaps a little tired, carpet a bit marked as were walls etc. The staff such as we interacted with them were efficient. The best part was the location which put you within a 10 minute leisurely stroll of the old town, new town and less than 15 mins from the Guggenheim. We ate breakfast on one day for 11 euros per head which I thought very reasonable for a good buffet. Overall I would recommend it.

The central location on the banks of the river is certainly an asset. We had a fairly standard room as part of a weekend deal which the hotel advertises giving breakfast, late check-out and free mini-bar. The late check out and mini bar did not seem to appear when we checked in and as I hadn't printed the whole details of the offer felt a bit tight trying to negotiate this with my fairly rubbish spanish. Consequently we did not use the mini-bar and checked out as normal ! Breakfast was really good and worth while if you enjoy lots of coffee, juice and there was a great selection of hot and cold food. It really is easy to explore the old and new town and I would recommend the very many streets in the new town with the tapas bars. Did manage to get lost doing this as many of the streets look the same and kept turning up where we started

This hotel was perfect for a quick city break. 4 nights with my husband and a good friend who flew in from London to visit the Guggenheim. The hotel is on the river a short walk to the bridge that takes you over the river to the museum. To the left is the white bridge which takes you over the river to the modern city centre. The old town, Casco Viejo, is also to the left, a lovely 10 minute walk along the river, where you can also find the fabulous covered market ( we bought truffles and saffron) the cathedral of Santiago as well as Plaza Nueva, a square with some fabulous bars serving pinxos. The whole of the old town is great for restaurants and tapas bars. We had booked the hotel and paid for our rooms in advance and were disappointed to find we did not have rooms on the same floor, and that our room did not have a double bed. They wanted to charge us 15 euros more to get that. However after a discussion they changed our rooms and we were very happy. The best rooms are without a doubt the rooms facing the river and you can watch the locals walking their dogs, roller skating or just enjoying a stroll as well as boats on the river. My friends twin room was very small with a view of the heating ducts. The street behind the hotel "Huertas de Villa" has some very good tapas bars filled with locals and great to pop into for a nightcap and a bite to eat. There is also an excellent breakfast/lunch bar there where we welcomed every day. The rooms were clean and my only complaint was that one day we returned to the hotel at 5 oclock, drenched from the rain only to find our room still being cleaned so we were made to stand outside for 10 minutes, soaking wet. My friend got into her room ad refused to leave to have it cleaned and although we left shortly afterwards her room was not serviced that day. We were also mildly amused to find that the complimentary chocolates left in our room were taken away the next day and once we found our bed cover hidden behind the armchair ! Very curious !

A good hotel in an excellent location overlooking the Guggenheim Museum and Bilbao´s River, you can easily walk to the old town center or take the tram, is just passing the pedestrian bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava. The rooms are very comfortable so is the attention, the quality of breakfast makes it more suitable. It has Wi-fi an garage.

A great hotel at a reasonable price, perfectly situated opposite the Guggenheim and in easy walking distance to the old town and all attractions. Spacious clean and modern rooms, excellent breakfast, evening meal was first class and well priced. Service (especially front desk) was efficient and friendly. I cannot fault this place. Highly reccomended.
