Hotel Ibis-Bilbao
I stayed at the hotel Ibis in Bilbao on my last night in Spain before returning on the UK on the Portsmouth Ferry. The Hotel is not the cheapest, but as this was my last night I decided to give myself a treat and move upmarket from my usual haunts. The Hotel is worthy of its higher price. The service is good, the food well cooked, and the staff are professional in a polite rather than friendly way. The rooms are very clean and warm and the bathroom is more than adequate to satisfy the needs of people who prefer a higher grade of hotel. As an added bonus, the hotel has free Wi-Fi with space to park your car at the Hotel rear. This would be a good choose for those not on a tight budget or someone on a business trip.

Big modern Ibis smack in the centre of Bilbao, great if you wanted to access everywhere on foot. secure parking reasonable at 12 Euro/24hrs. Reception seemed always to be adequately staffed even late at night and staff members were always helpful. The clean recently refurbished cosy (read small) rooms are OK albeit lack any form of tea/coffee making equipment, then again Ibis hotels rarely have those anyway. We didn't have any food at the hotel as the streets outside were buzzing with people enjoying their traditionally late dinners, so we joined and the food quality as well as variety were excellent. As well as restaurants, there are many good bars, bakeries and an Eroski supermarket nearby.

Room Tip: Double rooms have a third bed, ask reception to send someone with a key to unlock. WI-FI only works on one code per device ask for multiple code if you have multiple devices.

This hotel is well placed for a visit to Bilbao and the Guggenhiem Museum. It lacks a good restaurant but there are places to eat nearby. The room was comfortable and reasonably quiet. Breakfast was fine. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The Ibis provided me with one of if not THE best night's sleep out of our 6 week holiday in Italy, Spain and France. The bed was so comfortable and so refreshing to NOT be:
a. two singles joined together; and/or
b. a slightly padded table.

The room is quite perfunctory, but in my opinion, there's a lot to say about a good bed and clean bathroom with good shower pressure.

I wanted a budget hotel in the center of Bilbao for just two nights. This was a perfect decision!
I found a smart deal at booking.com for a two people room + a child for 105 euros for 2 nights with no breakfast. We were only two people so it was great. It is in the center of Bilbao, about 10-15 minute walk to Guggenheim and to casco viejo. Bilbao is a very small city so there's no need to take the metro or anything unless you want to go to the beach or something...
The rooms are small, but you don't really need anything else. We had a double bed, a single bed, a flat TV, WC with shower and hairdryer. There is no closet, but there is a place where you can hang a couple of coats and where you can leave your stuff. If you plan to go there for more than 3 nights, then maybe you need something a little bigger, but if not, really this is perfect. We spoke in spanish, but the staff at the reception had name tags with several flags so there are people that can help you in different languages.
They clean the rooms every morning at around 9 or 10, but with the no disturb sign you can get a little more sleep if you want. We stayed until late one day and left after 12, when we came back at night, the room was cleaned :)
anyway, if you're looking for something cheap and nice in a nice street and you do not care about luxury or having a lot of things, this is the perfect place! Oh and it has free WiFi in case youre interested.
