“Outstanding hotel, the superb staff make it very much a 5 star experience!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

I was lucky enough to celebrate my wedding to my wonderful husband Jose Manuel last week in Oviedo. We chose the Barceló because the wonderful feeling we got form our first meeting with the director Guillermo. Professional yet super friendly, Guillermo put us at ease completely and we were confident that we and all of our guests would have an amazing day. 45+ guests arrived from Ireland, England, Brazil, California, Madrid, Segovia and of course Asturias; quite a number of whom actually booked in to stay in the hotel for 5 nights over the wedding. We took over the breakfast room each morning for a leisurely feast of delicious fresh produce while we all chatted over Irish tea or Spanish coffee!

All of the correspondence with Guillermo and Rosabel (reservations) was very attentive to all of our individual needs. The atmosphere in the hotel on the days around the wedding was buzzing, we all chatted and drank in the Gin and Tonic bar daily. On the day of the wedding the cocktail reception was the best I have ever seen in my life with the most delicious tastes of fusion Spanish food prepared lovingly by the chef and kitchen staff and passed around by the beautiful attentive waiting staff. The lunch was superb! Everything was faultless.

I couldn't recommend Barceló Cervantes highly enough as a wedding venue, place for dinner, or the best gin and tonic in Oviedo. Thank you so much to everyone involved.

Room Tip: We were lucky to have the junior suite which was AMAZING! Wonderful Jacuzzi bath, nespresso machine...

A very nice hotel in a great position. Close to shops, bars and restaurants and 10 mins walk from the old town and "cider street". The car parking is a little tight to manoeuvre but worth it. Once parked you won't need a car in this city.

We stayed in the Barcelo Oviedo Cervantes which was our first port of call during our trip around spain. The hotel was converted from a mansion into an hotel during 2007. The decor is modern not quite to our liking, and tended to be a bit on the dark side but nevertheless the hotel was spotless.. The bedroom was divided into two with the bathroom just off to one side which also served as a dressing area - again very modern but not very practical. The beds were very comfortable as were the pillows. We did not eat at the restuarant but we did have breakfast there. The fruit juice was freshly squeezed and they served lovely expresso coffee, My husband asked for fried eggs which were cooked to order.- very unusal these days. There were plenty of choices for breakfast and the quality of the food was very good. The staff were very friendly and very hospitable. All in all a very nice hotel indeed..

Hotel is nice and central, just around the corner from the train station. The hotel is modern and has been renovated within the last couple of years by the looks of it. Bathroom included an area for getting ready which ate into the living area of the room but a great feature if the room was a little larger.

Hotel was like a bad 70's flashback (renovated about 5 years ago) - shag carpet, chain curtains as room dividers and around lamps, hanging globe lights, etc. The bathroom setup in our tiny room was bizarre - toilet and shower each had their own closet-like 'room' with smokey glass type doors and sink was outside. It was hard to take a shower without flooding the area outside (by sink) and the shower had 2 temperatures - burning hot and scalding hot. You could not read in the room because of poor lighting (chains hanging from tops of lamps didn't help). Front desk spoke limited English and the 'business center' consisted of 1 computer in the lobby.

This modern hotel in the central city is a good value as indicated by the number of business
customers. There is tight underground parking. The rooms are expansive and modern almost
mod. But the value and location allay any reservations. We dined in the bar when the staff
was fantastic and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. This may not be a true 5 star hotel but at
95E an excellent value. The central city is dotted with sculpture of special note a Botero and for
fun Woody Allen.

Stayed here for a week in August 2012. Got the bus from the airport to Oviedo 7.5 Euros each.
Hotel is fairly central. We had room only - plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Hotel is clean and modern. Staff friendly and helpful. Got the train to Aviles and Gijon and hired a car to get to beautiful beaches. Pretty city - very Spanish, sometimes had difficulties when ordering food - not all restaurants had menus in English. Mostly Spanish tourists. Amusing local speciality - cider that is poured from a great height into your glass - a great deal being spilt on the floor!
