Spent a week here on our recent revisit to beautiful Cantabria and Asturias. Las Caldas is a tiny village, close to Oviedo but very rural. The Hotel room was perfect for the three of us and had an excellent well appointed wet room. Breakfast were very special and were served in an a amazing old room, the room of espejos. The restaurant served a good set menu which included good wines in the price. Staff in all areas, reception, room service and especially the bar and restaurant were excellent and helped to make our stay most enjoyable. Oviedo, an interesting City, is a short bus ride away, don't take your car, and the restaurant across the road from the hotel is well worth a visit. The Asturian countryside is beautiful and wild. We had some lovely drives, the one to the Somiedo National Park, where there are bears and wolves, was particularly impressive.

This hotel is situated remotely, outside of Oviedo. In the little village Las Caldas, there is nothing but the hotel itself, 2 or 3 restaurants and a pharmacy. While this makes it a perfect place for unwinding and relaxing, you might want to keep in mind that the next shopping opportunity is a couple of km away.

The hotel is focussed on wellness/spa and clients who also look for hiking or biking paths. This includes offers and facilities for all these activities too. The attached bath and termal area are connected to the hotel, but can also be used by visitors who do not stay at the hotel.

The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. Besides a small but complete menu for room service, the included breakfast offers a complete buffet with lots of variety and fresh and local produce.

All in all a great destination for couples who look for a break from everyday life.

In the tiny village of Las Cangas, 8 miles south of Oviedo, is a hotel and spa complex of which the Enclave is a part. The hotel is modern in design with wood floors and white walls. Rooms at 100 euros/night are well-equipped with large TVs (no English channels), huge bathrooms and AC that, rarely for hotels in this price range, is useable. The inclusive breakfast is terrific, with meats, cheese and eggs all available alongside the usual breads, pastries (those honey cakes!) and cereals. Wi-fi is also included. The spa (I paid an extra 7 euros/ day for its use) is vast and after a thigh-wrecking day slogging up the Asturian hills on a bike, extremely welcome. The hotel is highly bike-friendly; rentals can be arranged and they have folders full of routes to try. The car park underneath the hotel is 9 euros/day. In the village is a decent bar and also a restaurant that served one of the best burgers it's ever been my pleasure to eat. An excellent hotel and excellent value.

I have just returned from a stay at the Hotel Enclave in Las Caldas, all based around a 4 night cycling package which was excellent. Firstly I was given a very warm welcome by Angela and a full tour of all the cycling facilities at the hotel which are superb. There is a bike washing area in the underground garage, which then leads down to the secure bike-storage area, where you have your own personal locking station for your bike. Plus, there is also a very well equipped workshop with plenty of tools for any on-site tweaking that you may need to do on your bike, plus track-pumps.
The other really good thing is that they have prepared over 20 GPS routes for you to follow (mainly road, but some off-road) all starting & finishing in Las Caldas, and these are in a folder so you can browse through and pick which ones you fancy, as they are all given a degree of difficulty based on distance, amount of climbing, and highest point, so it is really easy to see the route and select the ones you like the look of. They should be able to transfer the GPS routes to your own device, but if not they also have GPS devices that are available. Spares such as inner tubes etc., and energy products are also available for purchase, plus access to lots of other paid for services such as physio, Vo2 testing, postural checks etc. if you want them.
By booking on the cycling package I also got full access to their sports centre which included a gym, and a fantastic pool/spa area which was great for some relaxation in the evening after a day's hard cycling.
I also opted for their €20 Sports Menu for my evening meal which was great value for money, as it included a good mix of carbs, protein, vegetables and fruit, and they were very generous size portions indeed!
I mustn't forget to mention the actual cycling in the area which is fantastic, with lots of valleys and good climbs nearby with lovely scenery and views, including many climbs which La Vuelta regularly use including this year.
I shall certainly be looking to return again to Las Caldas next year, as it is such a great set-up for cyclists, with very helpful & friendly staff in a beautiful part of Spain.
