“A STEP INTO HISTORY”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

Very nice setting for the cathedral, in the main city square. We did the audio-guide tour around the museum but the tape focused too often on things that were obvious to our eyes, very little history links and not much content to please a wide variety of visitors.

The spaces seem to lack a bit of fresh air or air-conditioning which cannot be good for some pieces of art. It is understandable that the space is very limiting by its unconventional structure.

The jewel of the crown and a must if you are in Oviedo which could actually do with a little "upgrade".

“Very worthwhile visit”
Reviewed August 9, 2014

There is a lot of history to the Cathedral and visitors are provided with audio guides in their own language. There is a lot to see but you can skip sections if you want to. The Holy Chamber and relics are amazing.

“Lovely Cathedral to visit”
Reviewed July 17, 2014 via mobile

We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 6 and 12. We all found this interesting and beautiful. The entrance price was very reasonable which included listening guides in your own language.

“The Holy Chamber and the Cathedral”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

They're are both very, very interesting. The Holy Chamber for the building itself, its immense age, its royal history, its barrel-ceiling and its columns with paired saints with strange, heraldic-looking monsters beneath their feet, and the extraordinary variety of precious relics it holds - the sudarium (we see a copy, with the reliquary which holds the real sudarium), the original Asturian cross of Victory….. And below it, the ancient cathedral, with the early mediaeval Asturian royal tombs, a wonderful rose window in the west, and impressive altarpieces - especially, I thought, in the side-chapels of Saint Martin and the Birth of the Virgin. The great Cathedral tower outside's very impressive too.

The audio-guides are much better than usual.

“Don't skip the Camara Sancta”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

While the Cathedral and it's windows are impressive, we LOVED the pre-Romanesque Camara Sancta. The museum has quite a few worthwhile pieces (especially the wooden panels from the choir that was removed from the cathedral.)
