Very comfortable hotel in the heart of the town, clean rooms with lovely furniture. We had a small old style balcony overlooking the city. The staff is very friendly.
There is no parking on the side, however the city parking is not to far and hotel will give you discount for 24h parking.

Our beautiful room had a balcony facing the popular beach, from the square of town, a block away but still could hear the waves brake at the beach.
The decor of the hotel and our room was exquisite and of very good taste.
The personnel was very friendly and gave us great service. Breakfast was amazing.
Will go back to Gixon and will stay at the same hotel.

Gijon was a waystop on our way from Porto, Portugal to San Sebastian, Spain. And what a fun waystop it was. The Hotel Asturias is great, right near the best restaurants and bars, and the plaza for sitting and watching people. The beach is just across the street. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

If you are looking for a Marriott or Intercontinental, this is not the hotel. If you are looking for a slice of Spain that you won't find in the numbing sameness of the big chains, then Hotel Asturias is a find. The beds were great, the room spacious, the view from our windows which opened fully, was spectacular.

This might become a destination for another trip to Spain.

Room tip: 601 and 602 were fabulous rooms!

We chose this hotel and paid extra for a sea view, but there was no balcony. In fact there were no facilities at all. There is no bar, tea-making equipment or drinks of any form on the premises, just 2 small bottle of water in the mini-bar. Very weak WiFi and no Air Conditioning, so it was too hot to sleep in August. No storeroom for luggage - it's pile up behind the receptionist. How did this place get 4 stars?

As an advertised 4 star hotel it was disappointing to find the car park a 15 minute walk away which made check in difficult, and was a public amenity.
The hotel itself may conform to 4 start standard requirement overall, but needs to be dragged into the 21st century.
The room overlooked the Plaza Mayor and was the smallest room we have ever experienced for a designated 4 star Hotel, the distance between the bed end and the wall being no more than 40cm, with a single chair which for a 2 person occupancy was unsatisfactory, but this was as a result of the inadequately sized room, in addition there was no drawer space for clothing, the hand basin was cracked and the drainage partially blocked, there was no non-slip bath mat supplied and the hotel could not supply one, in addition there was no support rail within the shower area.
The restaurant would only accept you if you had a reservation, and the breakfast consisted of cold food only, unless you made your own toast.
Overall an extremely disappointing stay, and would not recommended the hotel to any friends or family.

Room tip: Cannot recommend the hotel, despite the reception staff being friendly and very helpful
