The hotel is located in a quiet part of the town on the edge of a small park. It has easy access to the promonade and town centre. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Have stayed in Pasadas in Portugal in the past and there was always a lot of history and charm
I have to admit this place just seemed like a small hotel without a lot of history or charm
Wish we had researched it more
We did not mind the location
Easy walking distance to the beaches and old city.
Rooms were clean and neat but musty and very warm.
Even turning a/c on full
Breakfast was wonderful
Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful
Free parking as long as you get there early enough
Close to a duck/ goose pond in park that is a bit stinky and dirty

We were not very impressed with this parador. The decor was dated. I had requested a double but was given twin beds and the shower was in the bath. This is not good with an aging population.

They certainly need to employ more staff in the dining room. It was ages before we were even given a menu. The lady in charge of the dining room had a unique approach. First she would seat you, then do something on her computer, then give you the menu. Sometime later she would return and take your order. Once the order was taken the food did arrive and your hunger was abated.

Breakfast - there was a large choice of food but again only one member of staff who had to clear tables as well as replenish the food and give you tea or coffee. As the dining room was full, this again did not work. There was a nespresso machine but pods were not left for patrons to do for themselves .

This is probably the least impressive parador we have visited. We were initially given room 201. Avoid this at all costs as it faces a concrete wall of the football stadium and it is just above the main entrance to the hotel where the smokers stand so if guests open the window, smoke drifts into the room. Fortunately the very helpful and professional male receptionist was able to move us to another room the next day. However, rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished.
Another disadvantage of the parador is its location. Not only is there the inconvenience of the football stadium, but it is a good thirty minute walk along the seafront to the old town, made worse when it is raining as it was when we went for dinner. There are however, a few rather characterless modern restaurants about fifteen minutes away. Maybe we should have researched the location a little more carefully.
Breakfast was lovely. It was a pleasant change to find so many local Spanish specialities on offer, along with some excellent coffee, even if the pods did have to be requested individually from a waitress, for each cup of coffee required. The restaurant itself overlooks the park and ducks which is delightful.

The parador is a comfortable and welcoming place - as all the paradors I have stayed in are. it is on the edge of town so made arriving by car very easy but if you would rather be closer to the action then possibly not for you. The parador sits at the edge of a really nice park with lots of wildfowl and at the edge of that there is an underpass to the promenade - so a wonderful stroll along the sea front is very close by. We did not eat at the parador but had breakfast which was good but not the best we have had at paradors before - it is small so the selection is more limited but everything was fresh an plentiful. If we go back to Gijon we would definitely stay here again - good value for money

Room tip: All rooms are quiet - rooms with views of the park are probably best
