We went there for lunch on Sunday, so there weren't many people. The place is really nice, it feels warm and cosy. We didn't try the tapas, that are what the restaurant is famous for, but we ate "Longaniza de bujaraloz, patatas paja, huevo frito y padrón", in other words sausages with fries, fried egg and green pepper. It was a big plate and was really really good, and the price was appropriate.
We wanted a dessert too, but the kitchen was already close and we couldn't order that, so instead we ordered cappuccinos, which were good.
The only problem was the service at the end, because there were just one waitress and she had to do a lot of stuff so she neglected a bit the customers.
But if I will go back to Zaragoza I will definitely go back here.

Nice bar, decent tapas, good atmosphere, interesting decor in the heart of the lively tubo area. We felt instantly very comfortable here and enjoyed a few wines and a few tapas here on a couple of occasions during our stay.

First I must admit my review is somewhat biased since I fell in love with Leticia the bartender.....
There are a lot of choices in the center of this beautiful city of Zaragoza but fortunately for me I walked into a great one. After driving around all of Aragon and Catalunya for three weeks and on a strict tapas diet I would rate La Pilara my second choice for tapas. La Pilara seems to me more of a traditional and what I would expect a tapa to be. And I appreciate that not many are covered with two pounds of cheese. The tapas menu is great but you have to get there a good time since you will have less to chose from as the night progresses. I did not have one tapa I did not like.... make sure you walk all day so you are really hungry to sample all of them. The barbacoa with the strawberry on top was one of my favorite. The escabeche (fish fillet with tomato sauce) was delicious. La Pilara has a full bar.... and great ambiance.
