The Theater Museum of Caesaraugusta is located at Calle San Jorge, 12. The Roman Theater was constructed in the first century AD. With time the theatric activity of the theater fell and in the second half of the 3rd century, many of its materials were robbed and reused in the nearby wall of the city, during a time of unstable politics. During Moorish times many houses were built adjacent to the theater. In the 14th century during Christian occupation of the city, the area became isolated because it was the Jewish barrio. After 1492, the Jews were expelled from Spain and the area was reopened to Christians. During the 16th century, the adjacent area became the areas of houses of prominent people, such as Gabriel Zaporta. Some churches were built nearby. Another house of a prominent person was that of Juan del Pueyo, connected with the courts. This property is now where the museum is located. The theater has a very good video of the history of the theater. On the ground floor there are scale models of the theater. Outside there is a wooden walkway around the theater, and one can see that the whole theater now has a glass roof to protect it from the elements.

You cannot miss this attraction. It's one thing to enjoy the castles and churches that are hundreds of years old, but to see the remains of 2000 year old Roman ruins is the best. Take in the whole tour with the baths, the theater, and the forum. Wow.

The museum at the Teatro Romano is recommended if you are staying a few days in Saragossa, but I don't think you should go out of your way to see it unless you are really interested in iberian roman-era buildings. The theatre itself is pretty much in ruins and these you can see from the outside. The museum gives you a good feeling for what it must have been like during its better days. If you are very interested in the subject, I would also recommend the roman musuem in Calatayud, its just as good or even better, since the range of artifacts it contains is superior, I believe.

The Theatre itself is not that well preserved but the associated museum is excellent and makes the best of it.

The remains of this amphitheatre are right in town so it really puts the Roman history of Zaragoza in context. I think this should be visited together with the other three Roman museums in the city as each brings a stone to the edifice of Zaragoza's history. I like the way the museum has left the amphitheatre open to the city, simply providing it with a permanent canopy to protect it (and visitors!) from the sun or rain. The video shown at regular intervals is, as far as I could make out, only in Spanish which is a shame for those travellers who don't understand. I found the video quite good but my two young adult daughters found it silly. You have to take some time to visit the adjoining museum because if you just look at the ruins all you will see is...well, ruins!
