We spent 2 nights in Zaragoza at Sabinas. The location could NOT be better. you are literally right in front of the Cathedral and plaza. The price was affordable for high season. Check in is 4 blocks away at Hotel Sauce and since Sabinas is a former apartment building there are no services on site (you have to ask at Sauce). The rooms are a bit sparse and although some claim kitchens ours did not (although I think the prices are the same?). We did have a mini fridge. There was plenty of space in the sleeping area but the bathroom was tight. The shower was even smaller (you couldn't turn around) but over all it was fine. Zaragoza is not known for its luxury or big nightlife so think small town and less urban hip. great cafes and shopping nearby. Free wifi was a bit sketchy and weak, had to be reset a few times.

Room Tip: confirm with Hotel Sauce if you have a room with a kitchen and bath. remember there's no houseke...

Dear guests from San Francisco,
Thank you so much for your priceless point of view about your experience with us. Thank you for the remark that in our Sabinas building you can either make a reservation of a room with bathroom or an apartment with bedroom, bathroom, living room and fully equipped kitchen. So we advice other travellers that may read these lines not to be confused and read carefully the descriptions on the different options before making your reservation online. There is also a difference on the price. Thank you for the clarification!
Kindest regards from all the Sabinas and Sauce team.
Isabel

We drove to Hotel Sauce to pick up our apartment keys & be guided to their privately operated car park opposite their Hotel. There was a 10 minute car park out the front of this hotel to drop off your cases & then be shown by a young lady to their car park. We drove down three very narrow twisting levels, all negotiated at slower than walking pace, more narrow than a normal public car park & on every bend there was a danger of scraping both sides of the car & the young lady walked in front of our car to assist with the many bends & stop other cars from coming up. The first space offered was so narrow that the driver could not exit. An alternative satisfactory space was offered. The car park costs 13 euro per day, upon reflection we would rather have parked our car in the public car park directly in front of the apartment & underneath Plaza Nuestra Senora del Pilar, which is a little more expensive at 20 euro/per day, but considering the 2000 euro for penalty for a scratch on your hire car the extra money is cheap insurance. The young lady then walked us back to our Attic Apartment which was only 100 meters away with superb views of the Basilica del Pilar . She didn’t know if the dishwasher or washing machine worked & in fact they didn’t. We felt this was very poor for quite a high class apartment. There was no kettle or toaster, so we went down the street to buy fresh bread/croissants each morning. The air-conditioner worked well as it was 30 degrees when we were there. The kitchen had a large fridge/freezer & cleaner comes every day & replaces all towels used. There was no English speaking TV channels like BBC World or CNN. This apartment is in a magical spot in which to visit most tourist things in the old centre.
We would certainly recommend this Attic Apartment but would not use their underground car park, instead use another public car park close by which would be easier to get in & out.

Dear Australian guests,
It is a shame that having so much trouble parking your car pales somewhat your opinion and your experience in our apartments. We always like to listen to our guests because the are the ones that best know what are our virtues and defects and help us improve everyday. There are other parking places on upper grounds, or the parking facility below Pilar Square. Our guest must come first to hotel Sauce where we give advice and directions about best parking choice depending on the type and size of your car. Washing machine works fine now, and we will consider equipping the kitchen with kettle and toaster. Thank you so much for contributing with your enriching point of view. Best regards from all the Sabinas and Sauce team,
Isabel

We stayed in the self-catering apartment. The location is excellent with nice views of the Cathedral from our room. It's clean, modern and comfortable. The only 'negative' aspect is the car park - very tight - and the 100m walk with cases from reception to the apartment, but overall for the price you pay this is an excellent option.

Dear Nick,
Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, Sabinas El Pilar offers independence because it has no reception desk, but with all the services of a hotel, hotel Sauce, one block distance. That is why you first do the check in at the hotel and afterwards we help you and guide you to Sabinas El Pilar. This should not really be an inconvenience because it is an easy, short and accesible walk. Thank you for your valuable opinion! Best regards from all the Sabinas and Sauce team.

Stayed here 2 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment with stunning views of the Cathedral. Great location and very helpful and accommadating staff. Very clean, kitchen with fridge and microwave handy, and a washing machine which wasn't working but they took our laundry, did it for free and delivered it back to our room the next day. If you need the space and a kitchen stay here you won't be disappointed.

Dear guests from Australia,
We know that the life of the tourist is hard :-)
Being so far away from home...long flights...jetlags...travelling many km from one city to another...long long walks. It may be tiring sometimes but at the same time it is fascinating getting to know new places and people.
That is why our aim and commitment ( Hotel Sauce and Sabinas Apartments team) is to provide our guests with a confortable place to relax, to give them good tips to enjoy their time and discover the city and a good service that best suits their needs.

We stayed for two nights in a third floor apartment with a view of cathedral. We had a one bedroom apartment and a sofa bed in the living room which was fine for our 12 year old. The apartment was a good size for our needs and clean. It was great to have a kitchen with a full size fridge and if we needed it a washer/dryer.

The check in is at a different hotel a short walk away. We were able to park outside the hotel in its designated bay and we then had to unload our luggage into the hotel foyer. We were then taken to the hotel car park which is a short distance from the hotel. We had no choice over parking space and it was very tight getting the hire car into the space. Thankfully we would not be needing it again until we checked out.

The apartment is a short walk from the check-in hotel and there is a lift to all the floors. The location is excellent. The main square is adjacent to the apartment where the Cathedral, museums, tourist information centre and a number of restaurants are all located. It is a short walk to the indoor market, river and other shopping areas.

We decided to take the sightseeing bus which gave a real flavour of the size of the city and the many things to see. The baording point is a short walk from the apartment. We stopped off at Parque Grande Jose Antonio and Aljaferia Palace. Zaragoza is a great city with lots to see and do.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of the Cathedral

My husband and I and another couple booked a two-night stay in the 2 BR/2BA apartment on the 5th floor. It worked out perfectly! Sufficient seating in the living room to sit and talk - and also a dining table. Two bathrooms make it a great deal. The kitchen was modern, with a large dishwasher and refrigerator. Perfect place to prepare a few hors d'oeuvres and wine before going out to eat. The apartment is even better than the website makes it look!

But best of all was the location. It was close to everything - with a remarkable view of the Cathedral de Nuestra Senora de Pilar out of almost every window. Great restaurants and cafe's in the area - and if you want additional recommendations, ask the helpful folks at the desk at the Hotel Sauce - they have great rec's. If you are going to be in Zaragoza a few days, take a look at the Zaragoza pass - which allows you entry into many different sights. Note that if you're there on Sunday, quite a few things are actually free.

We loved Zaragoza and all it had to offer....but I believe our entire favorable outlook on the city, its many sights, restaurants and wonderful people was due in great part to the place we stayed. Simply great!

Room Tip: The 2BR, 2BA apartment on 5th floor can't be beat!
