We had a lovely stroll across the city after a fun visit to the Aljaferia castle. The metal door was half closed when we arrived at 9:15, but someone came out and said they would be open in 15 minutes. We came back about a half hour later and were very surprised to see most of the tables full. At other restaurants, people were just wandering in at 10. We soon found out why. Thursdays are show night at the Taberna.
Between courses, the bartender (who was dressed in drag) came out in a variety of costumes and combined lip syncing and singing to some popular songs (some in Spanish and others in English). It wasn't great art, but certainly an entertaining addition to dinner.
One menu item of note. The Taberna is really known for its meats, which is not what we were after. The fish was just OK. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the earlier courses and the dessert. This is a very small place, so be sure to make a reservation.
