I just recently visited La Piedra as I have been told that this is a must and I must say that it deserves all the fame that it has. Dishes are excellent, salad, potatos and, of course, beef. I recommend the sirloin (solomillo) it is extremely juicy and fresh, and.. you cook it as you prefer. In this , of course, there is a negative thing... Your clothes end up smelling a little beat but... that is the price for cooking excellent fooof by yourself!. Ah!, there are two servings (@ 9 and 11 pm) and don't forget to try the dessert wine... It is just AMAZING!!!!

Being married with a Spanish lady, I have seen quite a bit of Spanish cooking and dining over the years. This restaurant was really way above the average and as Spanish as Spain can be!! I should have obeyed the ranking they have in tripadvisor, but for some reason or another, it was only now that I could convince my friends to go there for our lunch. Resevation is absolutely necessary, some days before, because the place is not very big and seems to be full always. Indeed it was yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.
The recommended wine (Tarsus, crianza) was priced just over the price of two bottles of water in a Northern European restaurant. Good wine, excellent for the meal that we had.
That meal started of with three starters to share by the six of us. This gives you about the right quantity for each. Six starters is way too much. Artichokes prepared with speck and herbs. Very succulent, nice not strong taste, the best I have eaten. The piedrettas (little stones = potato cubes) sprinkled with some sea salt and a aioli sauce formed a dish that was so great in its simplicity as only the Spanish can do it. Imagine, potatoes with salt and you are eating it as the biggest delicacy on earth. The third starter was shavings of fresh foie gras on ice, accompanied by thinly sliced crispy toasts and sea salt, pepper and pink salt from the Himalyas. After the starters all of us went for the chuleton, which is meat of the prime rib that is slightly cooked and you cook it further to your likings on a hot iron plate, that is changed regularly. Here a minor point of criticism may be in its place. The cut of the meat is such that you cannot recognize it as a chuleton or prime rib steak. I find that a pity. The round of deserts contained amongst others a soup of lemon with some red fruits and a bavarois of Bailyes that were both 'espectacular'. Go there if yoy are in Zaragoza and don't forget the reservation.

The restaurant is small and booking is sugegsted. The atmosphere is nice and familiar with good music. The waiter (Luigi from Perù) is very gentle and friendly, and the chef appears to be competent (at the end, i asked for a cognac and he correctly warmed up the glass).
Very high quality of food, fresh and well prepared, price is reasonable compared with qaulity. If we are looking just to fill your stomach in a cheap way, please goes somewhere else. If you are looking for quality food, you must go to La Piedra.
