When you have just driven for miles and you need a bed for the night, mistakes happen. First mistake was not to get on line in advance and see what other places were available in Huesca. As it happned, we asked at the town's tourist office for some guidance.
This was not a good start as the tourist office is hidden away in a position that makes it unfriendly to tourists coming into Huesca by car and wanting some advice. After managing to find the office, a nice young man quietly advised us what hotels were on offer in the town. A plan was provided and the list of Alojamientos given on the back of this map. The best hotels listed were (all 3 star) - Pedro de Aragon , Sancho Abarca, La Posada de la Luna and Aparhotel.
No mention made of the Abba Huesca Hotel, opened in the previous year !
The dice was cast and we were informed about the Sancho Abarca hotel being nearby and having secure parking so headed for it guided by the directions on the map drawn by our friend.
thinking that this was the best option and as it was getting on and dinner was on the horizon we checked in at a rate of about Euros 80 for a double.
The girl at reception was helpful and gave us a room that turned out to be very dated and in need of much TLC. Walls were painted in some gaudy colour and the furniture was circa 1950s.
Bathroom was a reasonable size but lacked any modernness .
When plugging in my phone charger the entire room lights fused requiring a visit from the receptionist to get the trip switch turned on.
The location was reasonable but street noises combined with the usual early morning cleaning clatter made peaceful sleep difficult.
If this hotel room was classified as a 'hostal' then it would have been acceptable at a cost of around euros 50.

Room Tip: Las habitaciones que dan a la calle del Coso Alto tienen un buen mirador.
