Visited tonight and saw that this was popular with tourists. Plenty of American accents and people with guide books under their arms. Service was great, so was wine. The English menu was in demand so we had to wait out turn to get or mitts on the one copy floating about. We ordered four tapas, fried sardines, slow cooked egg, smoked salmon with Salmorejo , and mackerel. The sardines were ok, salty and lightly battered. The egg concoction was interesting, very sweet with a strong taste of fig running through it. The mackerel was a generous portion and came with see creme fresh. The salmon was disappointing and bland. The venue is stylish, staff are helpful, wine is good but food underwhelming. We enjoyed much better tapas at more traditional bars. Still we can't complain too much as 4 tapas and 2 wines for 15 euro is good value.

After 2 months of dining out in Sevilla, I can state unequivocally that Eslava has been the best experience amongst some rather stiff gastronomic competition. Here, the quality (and presentation) of the food is 1st class, the atmosphere is convivial, and the staff are extremely friendly and courteous. The sole note of caution I would have: turn up at opening time, or book early to avoid disappontment! On each visit to date, the place has been packed. Today we happily waited almost an hour for a table, nibbling olives and tippling vino, secure in the knowledge it would be well worth the wait - which of course it was. Great value, too.

I need to reiterate a key point mentioned in earlier reviews: there are two Eslavas, one the busy crowded tapas bar full of Sevillian bustle, the other the formal restaurant next door in a lifeless room, where you have to ring the bell to be allowed to enter. Celebrating a special occasion, we booked for the latter. Our starters were both patés, and were both delicious. The fish of the day, hake, we were told would be served with a tomato sauce: it came on a plate with nothing but salad garnish and no sauce materialised until we reminded the waiter. The duck was nicely cooked and thinly sliced in a red-wine sauce - but that was it: no vegetables, no garnish. The waiter recommended a rioja wine, which was delicious (92 Parker Points, the label boasted) and excellent value. Overall, though, the meal was not. And to make it worse, our bill was converted to sterling without our being asked or warned and was charged at £1=€1.12 whereas Euro transactions on my credit card that sameday were converted at £1=€1.16. As an earlier reviewer has already reported, this was the most expensive meal we had in Seville but certainly not the best.

based on what fellow trippers said we made a beeline for the Eslava - 5 mins from the Hotel Regina - to be there for 8.00pm. Great move - got the 2nd last table and when we finished eating the whole place was rammed.
The food was delicious and extremely reasonably priced.
Loved it...

Staying at the eslava residence on our first trip to Seville. Having a wonderful time. Get here for opening at 8pm, to get a table, otherwise put your name on the list and wait. But we'll worth it.
