Beautiful building exterior in good location contrast with

- smell of sewage in bathroom
- very dirty carpets in the hallways and rooms
- cheap breakfast (eg revolting non local fresh bread clearly from industrial provenance) in bunker style claustrophobic room
- outdated laptops: seriously not hi-tech

The hotel simply needs to be cleaned up and made more appealing. A minor effort to improve the food could make a simple positive difference.

But maybe the owner prefers to keep the margin for himself; that's the feeling.

Before you book your trip, make sure you really want to go to Sevilla. There's not much in this industrial city. There's especially not much to do in Canalejas. Canalejas is the the Rodeo Drive of Spain. There's some historical buildings and a huge cathedral there, and a water park about 10 minutes away, and that's about it. This city is for Spaniards to get away from the big city life for the weekend. The shopping is extremely high end. They surprisingly have an H&M store.

Well now onto the hotel. Nice place with not so friendly staff. The great thing about the hotel though is that you don't even need to get wifi. Like all the other Petit Palace hotels, they have laptops in every room. You are better off without your iPad or iPhone. I wouldn't recommend eating at the hotel. However, there are two great restaurants within the town limits. If you take a hard right out of the hotel front door and walk about a block, there is a bar on a corner with fantastic food and cheap drinks. Being a vegetarian, I had no reservations about eating there. But be weary, keep your iPhones in your pocket and hold on to your purse. My buddy and I watched a girl from Chicago practically have her vacation ruined because she felt like she was in the states and just left her iPhone comfortably in the table in front of her. Sure enough, a local woman walked off with it. Spaniards are notorious for pick pocketing.
The other great restaurant is more in the middle of the town square. We stupidly decided to stay in Canalejas on a Sunday (mind you the town shops is deserted on Sundays; quite religious town), so we didn't know what the hell we were going to do for dinner and there is no grocery store around. But we found this great diner right across from the town's Hostel. Food was superb and so was the service. The guy who takes your order also runs the food, cleans the tables and even takes time to entertain you with small banter. The guy makes American wait staff look like bums. I'd hire him to run any establishment here in the States. You've got to check this spot out if you stay in Canalejas.

Of all the hotels in the area to stay at, stick with this one. Just be sure to book through their website. Better discounts that way.

They do have a serious problem with cleanliness and the condition of room number 001 is terrible - the other rooms we didn't see. Left after one night.

This hotel is good value for the money, was quiet and I slept well. It is central to all the sites, and or buses and I walked all over Sevilla from here. The front desk staff were very professional, friendly and very helpful, I didn’t try breakfast in the hotel.

Drawbacks, there are a few steps to drag your luggage up in order to get into the lobby. Hotel is tired. While I think that the maids did a good job of cleaning the room, it gives the impression of not being clean. This is because the carpet is stained, linens have seen better days, throw pillows look dusty, and in general everything needs to be updated.

On first look, shower looks very funky cool, but the floor tiles in the stall wobbled, and the shower head sent most of the spray upwards to the ceiling.

I was alone and it was a tight squeeze. It would be very difficult for 2 people in the room, it is very small and the bathroom door bangs into the sink. Where 2 suitcases would go is a mystery. The tiny, awkward cupboard had an unpleasant, musty odor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the interior courtyard to avoid street noise, not that I ever found the street to...

Stayed twice at Petit Palace Canalejas, first for two nights and then one night a week later. We stayed in the family room, and got to see two of them. The first one we stayed in (on the first floor) was really quite small. Thankfully, the bunk beds make this a little easier. On our second stay we got the family room on the third floor (room 301). This room was quite a bit larger, with a lovely Juliette-style balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. The hotel does have some odd issues, however. Keeping an exercise bike in the room might be great if I was travelling alone, but with a family it makes no sense and just takes up space. As well, the bathroom in room 301 is very large, but has almost no counter space to lay anything out, just a modern sink stand placed in the centre of the bathroom. The breakfast was fine, and there's a small corner store quite close with ice and drinks available. The Merchants Malt House is also around the back of the hotel.

Room Tip: 301 was a great family room - large and comfortable.

This hotel would have scored much better if the rooms weren't so small. It was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was typical European breakfast fare, but I was pleased. The hotel was in a good location....while not quite centrally located, it was only about a 10 minute walk to moat if the major attractions in Seville. The main ptoblem was thay the room was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in the US or in Europe. It was riiculous. If not for the tiny rooms thia would be a really good hotel to stay at in Seville. The only way I would go back is if I was traveling alone. I think the room is too small even for a couple.
