We booked this hotel for the last day of our trip in Seville. We were exciting to discover the hotel after viewing the photos on the website where we booked it. When we arrive at the hotel we were given a small and dark room, with no Choice to keep the wood pannel on the windows because many people were passing in front of the room. I asked to the manager if I could change the room but she pretending the hotel was full, so I checked on internet and I could see that it was a lie because there was room with the same category available at the same day (instant reservation) ...
The bed cover was wet and the room was very sad also. I also don't like the light in the bathroom who is cold white... If I would have knew that the room will be like I WOULD DEFINITELY AVOID THIS HOTEL!!

Dear Mr. Julien R,

In response to your opinion expressing his displeasure with your room we offer our apologies.

On the other hand, we showed you another room, the only one that we had available for that night, that was an superior room. You had booked an standard room, and in case we would have another one available, you can be sure that we would show you that one too. There was no reason for not to do it.

We only informed you that in that case there was a difference of 30 € for an upgraded.

About the cover bed we can not understand what happened, but if you would inform to the reception we definitely would looked for a solution.

Your feedback is valued and will be considered as we work to improve our service.

We are sorry you have not enjoyed your stay in our hotel, but we look forward to welcoming you in future occasions.

Sincerely,
V. Salas

Informal check in where you sit in the lounge with a drink, very welcoming. One is greeted by an atmosphere that evokes a combination of bell epoque and Victorian Englishmans country club. It is the kind of decor one either loves or loathes.

We had a choice of 2 rooms and chose one on the ground floor outside the lounge area on the way to the plunge pool. Room was nicely decorated but very dark. There was a large bathroom with double basins and walk in shower but there was no where in the shower to put soap and shampoo etc.

My husbands pet hate is no in room tea or coffee facilities and for a four star hotel we would expect it. During our 6 week trip we stayed in a variety of accommodation and even the B & Bs we stayed in had tea and coffee facilites. We have stayed in other hotels elsewhere that had no in room facilities but provided tea & coffee free of charge. The Ateneo charged over 3 euros for a coffee & a tea. They have a number of rooms where tea and coffee could be set up and would be a nice touch.

The hotel is close to a main pedestrianised shopping street and the hotel is situated on a small square with a couple of bars/cafes which we found quite unattractive.

There was a charge for breakfast which we declined as there are many places to eat nearby.

Whilst we had a nice stay somehow I felt the hotel was lacking in service and I came away somewhat underwhelmed.

Room tip: Perhaps view a couple as darkness could be a problem

We recently celebrated our wedding aniversary (23 yrs) in this wonderful hotel. It is a beautiful hotel opened just two years ago. From the moment you walk through the front door in to the cool interior, you will be delighted with the attention to detail in all aspects of its appointment. The wow factor was evident throughout in a classical fashion but this was heightened when we were shown to our room on the 3rd floor. A beautiful room with an enormous canopied bed with seperate shower that had a cloudless Spanish sky overhead. The room comes with its own private terrace that could comfortably accomodate 20 people. It overlooks a classsic Spanish bell tower that can gently wake you if you oversleep. All of the staff were courteous, friendly and professional. They all love this fabulous building and it is evident that they love working here. Staying at the Ateneo is a very chilled experience and we left wishing we had booked for longer but also feeling wonderful as a result of our stay. We will most definitely be back, probably with the family, as advised by our barman for a completely different experience in winter.

Room tip: I am sure that all of the rooms are excellent such is the quality throughout.

We have recently spent 3 nights at the Ateneo during a 2 week tour of Southern Spain and were impressed with all aspects of the Hotel. The internal decoration is very unusual and characterful, the rooms are immaculate and the breakfast is typically Spanish with a cooked to order hot option too.

Our only complaint was a lack of the welcome drink which was soon resolved after a reminder and we also booked a room with a terrace and view which turned out to be a view of a solid brick wall about 3 feet away! After mentioning this we were upgraded to the connected room (by opening the connecting door) which turned out to be a suite with library, two bathrooms, a view and comfortable sitting area. So we ended up with two double beds, 3 bathrooms, a library and a spiral staircase for the second two nights!. The staff were very friendly and we guess that this room could be specified at booking time if required (see photo) - a fantastic stay!

Room tip: Ask for a view directly over the square - the room with the library !

Checked in late into the evening at the hotel and we were greeted by the owner who immediately put us at ease.. The first impressions of the hotel are that of being in a magnificent private residence which it might well be with only 9 rooms... However the hotel offers all the amenities that a good hotel should including a lavish breakfast spread, a bar and dry cleaning services.. Just outside the hotel is a beautiful courtyard with two very nice restaurants and live musicians throughout the evening.. Also it's location means that you can take a small walk to the cathedral while traversing beautiful old streets which give you a very nice feeling of being taken back in time of how Seville might have been.. Definitely recommend this hotel as it's very well put together and the service is beyond reproach.. Great experience overall.
