We stayed in the junior penthouse Suite for three nights. The room and bathroom are spectacular; the large private roof terrace is an added bonus. It was wonderfully quiet and comfortable. All the staff we met were pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were generous, with excellent coffee.

It is true that the internet access was problematic, though I can't say that bothered me. Also factor in that the hotel is a ten minute walk from the main tourist area, a distance which may make the reader think, well that's nothing, but which seems longer after a few hours of sightseeing. It is, however, an easy walk in a straight line, much of it pedestrianized; and the short distance does remove the hotel from the noise and souvenir shops. The walk also passes a number of decent restaurants and bars with better food and lower prices than those in the centre.

If I could suggest anything to add to the experience, I would have liked a kettle and some tea bags.......

Room Tip: The junior penthouse suite is a stunner.

A real treat for a weekend we booked a suite & we were not disappointed with the fabulous suite we had. On 2 floors it was a probably a small house, 3 bathrooms,3 TV,s & 2 huge king size beds not to mention our own library. We did not really want to leave our room with the marbel floors & dark wooded walls. A typical Spanish pearl of a hotel hidden behind a plain unexciting exterior. Breakfast was unremarkable and not particularly good quality.Wi-fi annoying as it kept dropping off, but other than that excellent. Central location with pretty good access to most attractions.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed on an even par.

This boutique hotel is a stunner. We were in room in 204, and it is pretty special. Comfortable, spacious and clean. The staff were really friendly but do not speak a great deal of English. The location is absolutely perfect with respect to getting around the old city.

I highly recommend this hotel. But one piece of advise if you are arriving by car. Our GPS took us into the heart of the old city but got us stuck just a block from the hotel. Two friendly people with little English stopped to help. One rang the hotel, and a lovely girl from the hotel walked to us, got in the car and directed us back out, to a car park close to the hotel with whom they have a parking arrangement for about €10 a night (bargain after the €40 a night we had to pay in Barcelona). So, if you get close perhaps ring them for help. Also, I trust that they have fixed the ventilation system that on the third night became really noisy in our room.

I guess we did benefit from the low off-season rate for this small (10 rooms) boutique hotel but I think we would choose this excellent place again even if we had to pay a higher price in mid or high season.

I would not recommend trying to drive to the hotel as it is tucked away in a maze of narrow one-way streets so the best option, if you have a car, is to park in a nearby car park and either walk to get a taxi to the hotel. It is however very well positioned to walk to all the major attractions, being only about a 10 minute walk to the cathedral.

On arrival we were offered a free round of drinks by the manager who along with the other few staff made us very welcome. Our superior double room was amazing and we definitely felt like royalty for the night. There was free wifi in the foyer and unusually a separate free wifi network for each room!

We did want to attend a flamenco session and were given details of a nearby performance by the manager. The theatre was quite small and intimate and the performance was very traditional and possibly would not be to everyone's taste and expectation.

We opted to have breakfast in the hotel the following morning - it was not included and at €15 per person seemed a tad expensive. However, in keeping with the rest of the experience it was superb. A large table was laid out with a spectacular array of meats, cereals, drinks (including champagne!), fruits, breads and cakes. Cooked items were also available on request.

The extremely friendly maid, who spoke no English, showed us one of the suites which was indeed amazing and even more luxurious than our own room.

So if you get a chance and want to sample Seville accommodation at its best do try the Ateneo hotel.

Room Tip: A Superior Double Room is well worth the extra!

This hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are beautiful. Big comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom- fantastic shower. We were there over New Years & the hotel gave us bubbles & grapes! That was so kind! We loved the breakfast. Staff were helpful. Wifi was patchy so a bit frustrating.
