This hostel has the potential to be great - many of their staff were helpful and the organized activities like the walking tour and the Flamenco night were good fun. Location is pretty good and was a convenient walk to most things. However, staying here prevented us from sleeping for three full nights. We had a private double room with our own bathroom but it was situated under the communal kitchen and roof deck. Most rooms face the inner atrium so you can hear EVERYTHING that happens in the lobby, bar, hallways, stairwells, etc. in the entire place. Music was pumping from the bar and from the kitchen all day and all night long. Horrible. I complained after the first night since I had specifically requested a room away from noisy common areas but this was totally ignored in the booking process since, as it turned out, this was the only private room there. Our disappointment would have been avoided had we known that this room didn't fit our needs from the get-go. They didn't offer me a refund for the remaining nights and instead I had to push just to get earplugs as a concession. Even with earplugs we were kept awake, woken up, and had loud bangs from the kitchen and stairs at all hours for the entire three days. To top it off the room had no ventilation but a "window" that is a large door giving onto the atrium where anyone walking on our floor could see through the semi-broken wooden blinds covering it.
This is great hostel for party-people and independent travellers looking for social activities and 24 hours of fun. Not a good choice for private rooms.
