The location of this apartment is perfect, everything within walking distance. Maria our host is a lovely lady, very helpful ,ordered a taxi for us to airport on leaving.Apartment absolutely beautiful and very clean.Seville is one of the most beautiful cities we have ever visited and we will return because there is so much to see.
We (us and another couple) enjoyed four days and three nights in this very spacious, comfortable and clean apartment which is ideally situated, near to many bars, restaurants, shops and also the superb cathedral. It is, thus, in the very heart of Seville.
It is extremely well-equipped and has fabulous furniture, rooms and decor. The owner, Maria, gave us a wonderful welcome and explained everything we needed to know upon our arrival.
Only one minor criticism - although there was everything we needed to cook etc, including a coffee machine, we would have liked to have had an electric kettle for making tea.
We parked our car in the underground car park in Calle Cano y Cueto which is about ten minutes' walk away.
We found the Toreador Apartments through Trip Advisor rentals as a new listing without reviews. Upon cross checking, it showed up on several other holiday apartment sites as well. From the photos and description, it sounded perfect being in the middle of the old city of Seville on Mateos Gago one of the main thoroughfares.
Booking through Trip Advisor Rentals was quick and painless. Maria, the apartment owner responded immediately and was great with replying to our emails. We rang a day before we arrived and Maria arranged for her daughter to meet us at the apartment.
The apartment building was situated near to Hotel Goya and was on the first floor in a beautifully well kept building with atmosphere. All the dwellings were designed to be around the main courtyard which was well lit by natural light.
Our home for the week was an awesome three bedroom apartment true to the photos on the website. It was advertised as "luxurious" and it was true to its marketing - I would also add welcoming, comfortable and safe.
The spacious master bedroom was right at the one end with its own ensuite and a huge walk-in wardrobe. The second room next to it was smaller with twin bedding and before that, a sun room with a most delightful old single wrought iron bed! There was also a well sized second bathroom. The living room was at the end facing Mateos Gagos overlooking the school, and a well equipped functioning kitchen in between with a washing machine tucked into it. We appreciated that Maria also supplied all the necessities for keeping the apartment clean plus washing powder. In most places, this would be optional and a hassle to purchase for short stays. The apartment was fully air conditioned which is much needed in summer. Wifi was free and there was superb connection but confined to the living areas.
From the front door, the right takes you towards the Cathedral and Alcazar Castle after navigating through a range of tapas bars and souvenir shops. If needed, most of the tapas bars seem to be happy to do a takeaway. There is also a taxi rank round the corner of Mateos Gago. Two to three doors down is a little provision shop. It has limited choice but you can pick up bread, eggs, milk and fresh fruits.
The left of the apartment is the Santa Cruz district, or the old Jewish quarter. It is a much nicer place to hangout for dinner so do have a wander through and find the gelato shop, and pastry places. There is a spa within 4 minutes from Toreador - Ariel Spa - located in the old Roman baths and Hamman. A boutique near the Hotel Goya, called MaGo is worth a visit. It stocks some really nice high end cotton pieces by a designer from Portugal.
We had a wonderful week stay at Toreador and I hope many more people discover it. Rental was reasonable at about EU850 for 5 nights. This is a real home away from home.
