WE enjoyed our stay at the Posada del Lucero for several reasons. The customer service was excellent, the location was ideal for getting around the city, the buffet breakfast was lovely, having freshly cooked eggs and bacon each morning alongside a very full selection of meats, cheese, pastries, fruit, juices and cake. The room was a bit warm, but we had our own balcony/terrace and not a hint of street noise. Also the hotel was spotlessly clean, bathrooms were a delight. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Stay on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard.

We should start by saying that obviously this is only place we stayed in Sevilla, and we chose it because it was modern. So many of the places in Sevilla looked shabby or rundown.

So with that in mind, we definitely got modern. And, we don't have any complaints the way other people do on here -- we thought the decor was chic, we loved the courtyard, and the staff were pleasant. Many people on here seem to have chosen this hotel without knowing the chicness, possibly, and ended up not liking its minimalist style. That's not true for us, and that's not why we are giving it 3 stars...

Here's why we think it only gets 3 stars:
(1) The internet in our room was so spotty! You can't be a chic, modern, trendy hotel and not have excellent wireless!!!

(2) One evening, there was no hot water in our shower. Enough said.

(3) The hotel is on a busy pedestrian street that has a church, which enjoys ringing its bells ALL NIGHT! It's baffling to us why this hotel didn't put more effort into soundproofing the windows.

I chose this hotel because I wanted a change of pace from the small, traditional hotels I had booked for my first week in Spain. I wasn’t disappointed, it was just as advertised. Contemporary and sleek in an elegant, old building. But I’m not sure that I would return. The hotel needs updating (upholstery was stained and there was an odd odor in the bathroom). The location was within walking distance of the train station, which I appreciated, but not right in the center of all the tourist sights. BTW, I saw a review that mentioned that the staff was unfriendly. That was not my experience. I thought they were great.

Although centrally located it did not leave us with a particularly positive feeling. Reception staff lacking professional edge and chaotic. Rooms clean but spartan and unimaginative. Breakfast prices a rip off. Parking nearby for one day costs over €22.

Room Tip: Go to Hotel Becquer. So much better in every regard for the same price.

Great location, staff very helpful and very accomodating. Our room had no external window so a bit stuffy and there was a smell of sewage in the bathroom. However, this would not prevent me from staying here again. Great tapas bars very close to the hotel.

Good location with easy walk through Barrio Santa Cruz to Cathedral and Real Alcazar. There are excellent tapas bars nearby including El Rinconello (one of oldest in Seville). The rooms are stylish with minimalist decor but they lacked functionality as there was insufficient storage shelves for a 4 night stay. The public areas were quiet but there was noise from adjacent rooms (footsteps on wood and tiled flooring). Breakfast was expensive (18.4 euros) for the quality and choice available, and service was poor despite no-one else being at breakfast. No parking is available at the hotel; public parking at 20 euros/ day is available approximately 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Stunning hotel in terms of its architecture. We stayed in two separate room (one room at the beginning of our trip and another at the end of our holiday). Some rooms can be quite dark but are of a really great size and beautifully in a minimalistic way. Had toast with tomoatoes and black coffee for breakfast each morning and paid about €8 for the two of us. Their coffee was very good. The staff, while mainly good, failed to tell us about the plunge pool up on the roof terrace and also that there was a reading room with a compute with internet access. We discovered these by chance on our second visit.
