If you are ready to pay 5 star prices for a 3 star hotel, be their guest! I stayed at the hotel 3 nights last week. When I saw the family suite I had booked, I was so disappointed I asked to see other rooms. I was shown 4 more which were all old-fashioned with terrible bathrooms. I only stayed because I did not want to loose my money and waste time looking for a different hotel on a busy week-end.

There are good points though: great location, close to all main historic buildings, good breakfast and, yes, a very helpful concierge.

I am not into chain hotels at all and I do appreciate history and style. However, I think this hotel is very much over rated and over priced.
Please take into consideration all the other bad comments from other reviewers as they are true, as I found out too late!

Wonderful staff that could not do enough for us. The suite that we had was a little quirky as it was on 3 floors if you include the private roof terrace. It does not get to excellent rating as the bathroom was a little small but certainly gets there for the building and the outstanding, caring staff. The hotel is in a narrow street set away from the main tourist centre but this is no problem as long as you do not mind a 5 minute walk (it will take you longer but this will not be walking, but time spent staring at your map trying to find where you are).

Does not live up to its five star status. The patios are lovely, but we found the room to be small and even smelling a little of damp. Think the Hotel got its star rating a few years ago and it now appears old fashioned and out of date. Very expensive for what it provides and not worth the money.

The location is a little out of the way although reception were helpful with maps etc. Driving to it from the outskirts was a nightmare (and we are used to driving in Spain!!!).

Seville is a fantastic place to visit, great tapas and restaurants.

This is a 300 plus year old villa turned into a small hotel. The room was charming and spacious. The staff was very solicitous of our every need.

The concierge made resturant recomendations, followed up with reservations. The hotel is in the heart of old Sevilla and it is quite a shock for someone used to American streets. The streets are no bigger than sidewalks in the US. This hotel has rooms on 2 floors around 2 or 3 separate court yards, all apointed with pools, fountains, vegitation and tables and chairs. (A note here - someone complained about a musty smell to all of the rooms. Not true, it was the smell of the plants in the court yards, which was not unpleasant at all.)

The hotel was within 5 minutes walking distance of all the significant historic sites and many resturants. (Shopping too, but that's not what we were there for). The rooms had a quaint "old" Spanish look and feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recomend it , especially if you are looking for something different from the typpical Hyatt or Marriott.

The Hotel Imperial was a delightful stop on our tour through Spain in a very hot summer. The ancient structure, nicely restored in the late 90's, had character galore with 14th century architecture winding around courtyards and patios thoughout this maze of a hotel. No long hallways here! If there was an elevator, we never saw it as we enjoyed climbing floor to floor through shady sitting patios and courtyards with fountains.

The suite was nicely appointed with a poster bed set up high against the back wall. (It was a bit inconvenient for the person in the back to get up in the night, but it was cozy just the same.) A small, comfy living room was next to a small kitchen with frig, stovetop and sink which we used only for cold beverages and cutting fruit---but it was nice to have.

Service was very good with all English-speaking personnel including front desk men who also served as concierge and filled all kinds of requests for us quite efficiently. A friendly Ecuadoran porter was always nearby to fulfill any request and offer a smile and kind word. That included picking up the wooden box by our door with our shoes to shine and having them back in about an hour.

Since all the open areas are in the center of the hotel surrounded by the rooms around the outside and neighboring buildings, the public areas are mostly shady and the rooms have little direct sunlight. In 90+ heat in July, that served our pusposes well as it kept all areas of the hotel cooler. We could sit in the breakfast patio near the large buffet and be cool enough to eat outside. And we could relax and have cocktails on another cozy patio up a floor even in late afternoon.

The location is in the middle of one of the oldest areas of the city with all those winding, narrow streets and can be hard to find without a really good map. We were lost in the maze nearby a couple times. But it's not far from the main cathedral and other historic sites as well as restaurants and shopping. The hotel procured a private guide for us on the first day to show us the city which was well worth the price.

It was not the most luxurious hotel we stayed in on this trip, but it was one of our favorites. We liked the unique character from another time and the friendliness of the small but helpful staff.
