The Tablao El Arenal is very close to the Plaza de Totos and was walking distance from our hotel. We selected Tablao El Arenal above other flamenco show from recommendations from several locals. You can take in the show with either a full course meal or just drinks. We didn’t get good reviews on the quality and cost of the meal deal so settled on the just drinks plan. The value of the drink deal ended up being the best choice for it put our seating right up front at the stage. Lots of energy and soul.

We have traveled extensively in Spain and have been to many formal and informal flamenco shows there (and in the USA )and most have been very good to excellent. The ratings for El Arenal prompted us to try it, being in Sevilla again. A big mistake.
The guitar playing was amateurish and the songs played did not resemble any flamenco that we have ever heard. It seemed to be a cross between jazz and rapp and who knows what. In addition there were two guitarists, which is not unusual, except is this case neither knew what the other was playing and neither song meshed with the other and was very and discordant and distracting. It appeared the dancers, who were ok, had trouble following the music.
Photos not allowed. Now we know why.
Generally a bad experience.

Seeing a Flamenco Show is a must do, and this was an awesome date night experience. IT is a little pricey but well worth it. The only downside is that there are not a LOT of options for food/drink and ordering happens quickly. The upside is that everything we had (food and wine) was amazing. The performers are dynamic and I just fell in love with the show. We bought the DVD.

Word of advice- this location mapped incorrectly on my Google Maps. This is in the center of the city about a 10 min walk from the cathedral/castle area and is near the bull ring. Check for directions.

We loved this Flamenco dance. We got to see three of them on our tour of southern Spain, but this one was the best. Too bad they don't let you take pictures. The show was amazing! You can see the feelings in the faces of the dancers. The young guy was the most intense and the ladies were incredible. I did not like the area too much, especially because we asked someone to tell us where the place was and he ended up being a drunk that walked us all the way to the door and then asked for money. Best to walk right back to the main street and not through the small streets.
Enjoy!
