Owner description: Beyond the Iberian peninsula most people are rather uncomfortable about bullfighting, which makes a visit to this venerable bullring with attached museums all the more fascinating – not least for those who would never consider attending a bullfight. An inspection of the ring, and the backstage facilities that sustain it (the Plaza, of necessity, has its own ER) is a good counterpoint to a browse around a museum which is full of artwork and costumes celebrating the skill of the matador together with the mounted heads of their animal nemeses. Go with an open mind and you’ll leave with a much better understanding of bullfighting’s place in the life and culture of Andalucía.

Interesting tour but not as well explained and not as extensive open grounds as the Ronda ring where we were allowed to walk out into the ring and see the stalls were bulls are kept and horses watered etc.

This plaza de toros is a waste of time and money, there's nothing special to see, the arena itself is poor and shabby, the museum is a joke and you have to wait to get in because all the tours are with a guide. Go elsewhere.

Even if you are opposed to bullfighting today this is a good tour of a sport that is culturally significant to the region.

Pros:
English and Spanish
Not rushed
Unique history
Kid friendly

Cons:
Short when you consider it's in 2 languages
Not much time in arena
Large group

When I arrived at the stadium, the museum was already closed as it was late in the afternoon. To satisfy my curiosity, I bought a ticket for the bull fighting. A word of caution: if you are faint-hearted or are an animal lover or support/work in/for PETA, this sport is NOT for you. Despite the initial excitement, I must admit that there were moments that broke my heart seeing how the bulls were speared, went down and then dragged out of the stadium. I think this will be the first and last bull fighting match for me. One match is more than enough.

Other than that, it was a grand and colourful stadium, with a field that reminds me of a cricket match. But instead of pace bowlers in white, you get matadors in full splendour standing in the centre of the field. The seats are wooden benches and depending on how much your paid for your tickets, you either sit in the shade or under the hot sun. Choose the cheaper seats if you intend to leave after one match (like I did). That way, your pocket wouldn't hurt so badly.

Went to the Plaza de Toros and despite being undecided in regards to a stance on bull-fighting there was no bullfight on this day ...

The tour was very informative and the ring was a nice architectural display ...
