Eslava is not only an excellent place to stay in Seville, it's one of the best places we have stayed anywhere.
The apartments are modern and comfortable and have good soundproofing. We appreciated the many amenities, including the fast and reliable Internet connection, telephone, induction cooktop, washer/dryer, and laptop safe. The property is meticulously maintained, and the apartments are kept spotlessly clean. The tapas bar downstairs, our favorite in Seville, is always buzzing and serves up great food.
We love Eslava's location on the picturesque Plaza de San Lorenzo, close to the popular Alameda de Hercules and surrounded by good places to eat. If you are only interested in seeing the cathedral and the Alcázar, like to be in the middle of the tourist action, and hope to have a Starbucks nearby, then Eslava may not be for you, but if you want to be in an interesting, authentic neighborhood that is full of locals and still within walking distance of all of the main sights, Eslava can't be beat.
There's a neighborhood market around the corner, and within a pleasant 10-minute walk you'll find the main shopping area of Seville, including the large basement supermarket and new rooftop gourmet food court at El Corte Inglés. Also within a 10-minute walk are sights such as the excellent Museo de Bellas Artes, the Treasure of La Macarena (where you can learn about what happens during the Semana Santa), the remaining part of the old city walls, the camera obscura at the top of the Torre de los Perdigones, the Feria Market (eat at La Cantina if you like seafood), and the observation deck, archaeological site, and market at the striking Metropol Parasol. The famous Gran Poder statue is housed across the street. Simple pleasures for us in the Eslava neighborhood included drinking coffee and watching people on the Plaza de San Lorenzo, buying sweets (dulces) from nuns at the torno of Convento San Clemente (ring the bell at the gate during the posted hours), and getting out on the multi-use path along the river. It takes 20 - 25 minutes to walk to the cathedral.
Since we stayed at Eslava for an entire month, we had ample opportunity to observe the day-to-day operations. The more we saw, the more impressed we became. What really makes it special is the people. We felt warmly welcomed by the owners, and it's clear that their passion and dedication is reflected in the excellent team of amiable and responsive professionals they have assembled.
We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.
