Owner description: A center of interpretation dedicated to explaining the history of the Jewish quarter of Seville, its history and cultural achievements. Enjoy ours walking tours "Begins with a visit to the exhibition of the Center of approximately 40 minute in which the goal is to come to a historic understanding of the plight of the Jews in Seville (massacre of 1391, inquisition, expulsion, etc.) Through primary source documents from the inquisition, two statutes of the "blood cleansing," a painting by Joaquin Turina and Areal about the expulsion of the Jews of Seville, a masterpiece and gem of the exhibition. Then, for an hour and 20 minutes, there will be a walk around the most interesting points of the biggest neighborhood of Jewry in all of Spain (remnants of walls, synagogues, the cemetery, Verde street, which is where the massacre of 1391 occurred, ancient ritual baths of Mikue, etc.)"

We stumbled on the place by accident, being from Israel we felt obligated to enter but we enjoyed it a lot. At some point Lucia , one of the employees approached us and offered a detailed explanation in good English. She was a fountain of information and also of emotions about the good and the not so good history of the Jews in Seville.
She can do it in Engish and in Spanish and with some encouragement also in Hebrew which will be a treat for Israeli visitors.

Really well presented, chronologically, with lots of personal touches to balance the drama ...
I kept wondering if I was connecting with some very, very distant roots, hidden down the centuries, for good reason, historically.

This petite museum is a jewel--physically appealing and beautiful, with creative, informative and well-organized displays. The staff are well-informed, articulate and gracious. There is a small gift shop that features unusual and stunning judaica. A must for anyone interested in the history of Seville, Spain and Europe...and for Jews, a deeply affecting and moving tribute. It will be my first destination on a return trip to Seville.

Helpful and informative staff who were happy to talk through the exhibits. Lots of interesting information to read giving a good introduction to some parts of Spanish history to those who don't know much about it!

Through the perspective of understanding the history of the "Barrio Santa Cruz", you will get to understand the origin of the name of the Santa Cruz Barrio together with the history of Seville, Spain and all humankind history that keeps repeating itself in different places, eras and human groups.
It's amazing to find how, for many generations, prior to the medieval times, Jews and Muslims cohabited and flourished in this loved part of Sefarad. We even booked a private tour with Jaime Moreno and it was a very interesting experience that expanded the understanding of the amazing stories and beautiful passages of the barrio Santa Cruz.
Unwinding the narrow cobblestone streets of the Barrio Santa Cruz will be meaningless without a visit of the Centro de la Judería de Sevilla. That is the place that will connect the dots.
