It's an attractive example of the quintessential tapas bar with extra cheery staff. Although the menu also came in English (I think), we still didn't know what to pick so asked the barman. He recommended 4 dishes we'd never have chosen and they were all moreish. We went mid-afternoon - walked past in the evening the next day and there wasn't even any standing room. Full of tourists - maybe it's becoming a victim of it's own success, such is the power of good reviews on trip advisor!

``Mis Amigas!!`is how me and my friend were greeted by Jose on our second visit to this restaurant in barrio Santa Cruz. This is a fabulous tapas place with nice wines and we would have had a third and fouth visit had time permitted.
The service was amazing - we were never left waiting, wondering. But the most important thing is that the service provided by our host server, Jose, educated us. Through recommendations about tapas and wine, we were introduced to the culture of Spain. El Pasaje was our dinner out on our first night in Seville and Jose`s hospitality was so generous that it set the tone for our entire visit to Seville, which was a great experience.
But seriously, the tapas were amazing and helpful suggestions for choices were given each night we were at El Pasaje. There were a few things on the menu that did not `sound`appealing to our Canadian palates, but we were encouraged to try new things and were not dissappointed. Interestingly, the most simple and most common of tapas, spinach and chickpeas, was done best here (I tried it at every other tapas bar too). All in all, El Pasaje masters the both sophisticated and the simple, and this says it all - like drama and comedy both (no simple task).
This was my favourite tapas place over the course of a 4 day stay in Seville. Thank you El Pasaje for a great experience.

Small tapas bar with few outdoor tables in narrow street in central seville. We sat at bar for our meal as no tables available. Place was buzzing. They do an extensive list of tapas del dia which are more adventurous than the usual menu - for example we had artichoke hearts with almonds and iberico ham followed by a light foie gras pâté.Great value at 3 euros per dish.

Seems like some restaurants name "traditional" a product dived in oil for hours and "tasty" a block of iberian grease with a hint of meat inside. let's face it, an average basic product (fish, meat, greens, whatever...) can't make a great dish.
