The location of this hotel is simply fantastic: in the Santa Cruz area and VERY easy walking distance to all the sites, to fantastic flamenco, and to the best tapas bars. And one of the BEST things is the laundry service! It's about 1 Euro per pound (minimum 15 Euro) to wash your clothes, which is THE BEST DEAL we found when traveling through Spain! We thought it would be easy to find somewhere to do laundry in Spain---not so! And most hotels charged about 5 Euro (that is not an exaggeration) for socks or underwear---it would have been cheaper to just buy new. So the laundry service is a real blessing.

It is a little hard to find but the taxi can drop you (and pick you up) within steps of the front door. It is literally less than 5 minutes from the cathedral and other key tourist attractions. The hotel is beautifully decorated, furnished and maintained---simply lovely.

But most importantly, it is comfortable and wonderful and the owners (its their former family house) do everything they can to make you feel welcome. All of the staff was really helpful, friendly and welcoming. They helped us get entree to some very special experiences, pointed us to the best tapas bars (Vinieria San Telmo---DO NOT MISS IT, and it's only 5 minutes away!). The musical instruments scattered around are available for playing, and the complimentary orange wine (always out and available) is just lovely. They even mailed my postcards for me! (And added the stamp charge to our room.) We had no problems with the convenient elevator. Everything was lovely and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds, hair dryers, and in-room heating controls. Mentioning TripAdvisor at booking yielded a free bottle of really lovely wine, too.

It's hard to find perfection in anything, so here are the two minor downsides:
1) Yes, if you get a standard room, they're small--the smallest we had while in Spain. BUT, it was perfectly adequate, just not spacious. We didn't spend much time in our room anyway, so preferred to save money. If it's really important to you to have a big room, then spend the money and reserve one.
2) The breakfast is convenient but gets dull if you're staying there a few days. It was always a hard boiled egg, pastries (e.g. croissants), a bit of ham and cheese, a fresh fruit (usually orange or tangerine), juice and coffee. Plenty of food---just routine after day 2. And maybe it's just me---you might find this no problem at all.

The family was lovely and, because of them, this was our favorite stay in all of our 3 weeks in Spain. Also, the Hotel Alcantara (literally right around the corner, a 2-minute walk) had the best and least expensive Flamenco show of the many we saw in Spain too, "La Casa de Flamenco". Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you want a spacious room, pay the extra to reserve one. The standard rooms are small, but perfec...

We stayed here for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year. The hotel has great charm and is well located for the centre of the city and the principal sights. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only issue was the room which we were given which was on the ground floor and consequently rather dark. Streets are very narrow in this part of Seville so one cannot expect extensive views from lower floors but I felt somewhat claustrophobic in the room in question. It was also rather narrow. Furnishing was perfectly acceptable and the shower was very efficient. The bed was satisfactory and there were no issues with noise. We did enquire as to alternative rooms but the hotel was full. The hotel did however provide breakfast free of charge for the duration of our stay (we had booked room-only) which I felt was a very fair gesture.
The roof terraces offering excellent views are charming (not that we sat out in late December).
Breakfast was good and served in a variety of small rooms.
I would stay at Hotel Amadeus again if back in lovely Seville but I would make sure to ask for a room ideally on the 2nd floor.

Room Tip: see above!

Located in the heart of the old city the Amadeus reflects the best old-fashioned standards of hotel keeping. Nothing too much trouble, attention to detail, pride in the hotel. A tastefully modernised hotel in an 18th century building. Our room was not large but so well designed that we did not feel cramped at all.

Family owned is different from family run, we were booked in by a member of the family and the design was by her architect brother. To achieve this standard means being there not just owning it.

A very quaint hotel located in the old part of the city, 7 minutes walk to the Cathedral. A music theme throughout, with many musical instruments adorning the walls. A wonderful roof terrace with a plunge pool/ jacuzzi. Quite delightful. A must if wanting a place to stay in Seville.

I have to give Hotel Amadeus my highest recommendation, but I'm afraid once everyone finds out about it, I'll have a harder time getting a room there!!
Rooms and common spaces are wonderful and a great value
Bathrooms are unbelievable for Europe- we had dual sinks and a Jacuzzi tub
Breakfast is a bit overpriced, but there are plenty of other options in close proximity
All touristy sights were in walking distance
Staff was very polite and helpful
Rates were very reasonable during January and weather was nice

Room Tip: We had room 202 "Verdi" Actual King Size bed, great bathroom and an in-room piano

Our room was large and nice but on the street, so noise and light were a bit of an issue. The bathroom needed a little maintenance.
Public spaces were ample and comfortable like home. Sadly, it was too cold for the rooftop terrace, but it looked like a wonderful place to relax. We used the many indoor sitting rooms for reading and visiting with other guests.
The staff was courteous and very helpful. Breakfast was good and convenient, but be sure to get out to try some of the neighboring restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner.
The location is close enough to everything you will want to do but still in a pretty quiet place.

The rooms are beautiful, the roof top terrace with hot jacuzzi is a wonderful bonus. It's in a great location and the free orange wine made by the nun's of Seville that they leave around the hotel is fantastic! Breakfast was lovely and great value; it was continental and they brought it to our room for us, though we could have eaten on the roof top terrace if we had wanted to. We stayed in the Mozart room that had a lovely jacuzzi bath in the bedroom but also a wonderful shower too. The hotel itself was very quiet, outside noise was sometimes apparent but I wouldn't expect silence in a city hotel. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant and speak wonderful English. The music theme of the hotel is very unusual and if you are able you can play instruments in a sound proof room. Excellent stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mozart room, all are different but this had a lovely jacuzzi bath in the bedroom.
