“Clean, comfortable”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Stayed here for several nights on our trip to spain. Great location, easy distance to the main sights (in heart of Santa Cruz, many restaurants within a 5 minutes walk, about 10 minutes to Cathedral and Alcazar, 15-20 minutes to Plaza Espana, next door to a flamenco show). It was a little difficult getting to the hotel by taxi because the roads near the hotel were one way (cost about 10 euros from the train station). We shared a triple room, which had three twin beds. Our room was quiet as it faced the inner courtyard of the hotel. Room decor was no frills but very clean and spacious. Bathroom had an awkward setup and was a little cramped but manageable. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We didn't have the breakfast here but went to one of the restaurants nearby. Hotel was a great value overall!

Very clean reasonably small quiet double room, excellent value, superb location, WiFi worked well, staff were very helpful from the phone booking to the checkout they could not have done more. The suggestions made for restaurants on the notice board save time searching and money and are all great spots to eat and observe Seville life. Locked deposit boxes at front desk. We wanted for nothing here

Whatever problems a previous reviewer had with the wi-fi have obviously been resolved. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are simply furnished but quiet and good value. Breakfast arrangements were good and the situation couldn't be better - walking distance from the main tourist attractions and the best bars and restaurants.

Although tricky to locate when travelling by car (as the hotel is in a traffic free area) it proved an excellent choice. Friendly, welcoming staff, good comfortable accommodation and ideally situated for visiting the city. Breakfasts were comprehensive and well priced. Will certainly visit again.

This hotel is as central as it gets - right in the heart of the Santa Cruz district, a mere 5 minutes' walk from the Cathedral. There is no vehicular access so it is very quiet, but this means that you will need to drive to the nearest practical location for dropping off / collecting luggage. However, you cannot be more central and you will be rewarded with the best that this glorious city can offer, all within a short walk. There are countless bars and restaurants, as well as craft and gift shops galore. The hotel itself is perfectly adequate and most importantly, the staff are extremely friendly and always there to help or advise about the city. The rooms are well appointed and clean - my traveling friends chose a superior double which was extremely roomy with twin beds and both a bath and a shower, while I chose a single - this too was larger than most I have used and the bathroom bigger than the double! The decent breakfast is available in the reception area which overflows onto a shady atrium and is the standard-type cold buffet.

Hotel Alcantara was an excellent home base for our three day stay in Seville. We went at Easter so the price of the room was double the normal cost but that is true for many of the hotels in Seville at that time of year. We took a taxi from the train station so we had no problems getting there. The hotel is on a walkway rather than a road. The taxi driver got as close as he could, pointed in the direction of the hotel and we walked the rest of the way. We walked to all the major attractions; it was very convenient.

There were four of us in a room and it was small but comfortable. The furnishings were simple but functional and everything was very clean. The beds were the most comfortable ones we had on our trip.

You had to give your room key to the desk attendant every time you left the hotel, but they spoke English and were helpful in giving directions and making recommendations. I would definitely stay there again.

Whilst not the easiest place to find for the first time, the location is excellent. Only a couple of minutes to the cathedral and a tremendous selection of bars and restaurants. The adjacent flamenco show is very good and reputedly authenic.

We did not take breakfast at the hotel as there is a wide range of options in the immediate vicinity.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and speak very good english. The rooms spacious and clean and - whilst central - quiet. There is a lift.

Highly recommended.
