First the good things - the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful during several email reservations and follow up questions. Couldn't have been nicer. The lobby is clean and lovely and inviting - with interesting antiques and covered by an amazing carved wooden ceiling - very comfy and cozy and with free wi-fi. It is within short walking distance of the Alcazar, the Cathedral, and countless cafes and shops. Now the challenges. First off, it took forever to find the hotel because it is IN the Santa Cruz Barrio, which only has narrow pedestrian streets. After we checked in, we parked at the Barrio entrance, and had a very long walk without any help from a bellman (with 6 suitcases among 3 of us) along the cobbled streets to the Hotel (we took the shortest route), then had to move the car to a garage several blocks away. Our room was very clean, but very small, with just room for the bed and nightstands. The tiny bathroom was spotless, but the shower stall had only luke warm water. Worst was the window with bars which looked out onto three crumbling walls and a construction dump. We checked out and moved to a much nicer, slightly less expensive hotel just outside the Barrio, and the hotel manager was pleasant about it. The lobby is charming and the location within the Barrio is very neat, but I can't really recommend the hotel except to someone with a single rolling bag, who only plans to sleep in the room.

We are very sorry but we did not enjoy this hotel.
From my point of view there are many other hotel better than this one of less many.
We found hair in the bathroom and blood as well.
Cleaning not very good.

We stayed last year in the Murillo Apartments, which are opposite the hotel. This year the apartments were full so we tried the hotel. It was certainly good value, clean and tidy with friendly staff. However we did prefer the apartments because the rooms are larger and have extra facilities such as fridge and kettle. Although a little dearer we thought the apartments were worth the extra.
I wrote last year about the apartments, with instructions how to find them as it can be difficult. So read that report if you need some idea how to locate the hotel or apartments.
The apartments now use the entry opposite the hotel, rather than the one on Reinoso as I described last year.
The airport bus was 2.3 euro per trip or 4 euro for a return.

Located on a difficult to find walking street in the historic section, but walking distance to the cathedral and other sites and activities. Lobby is beautiful, staff very helpful. Rooms, however, were hideous. Crummy metal furniture with the paint worn off in places. Quite small too. Surprising from such an otherwise beautiful hotel.

The Murillo hotel is a good choice if you want to be in the old part of Seville. A bit noisy at night if you have the rooms facing the street. It is a basic hotel, but it is clean. They did not replace the towels daily even though we left them on the floor. Overall not bad value for the money.
