“Excellent as before....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2014

This was our second stay at this hotel and we were once again very happy with it. The hotel is well placed for all the main tourist sites in the old town.

We stayed over a weekend in January, booking a place in the under ground garage for our car at a cost of €16.50 a night. I confirmed this by E mail and asked for bedding without feathers. Not receiving an acknowledgement, I called and my requests were promptly and politely dealt with.

Reception was friendly and helpful, a member of staff meeting us at the entrance to the garage to assist us when we arrived.

We had a room on the fifth floor which was no problem since a number of lifts are available. It was clean, large and well enough decorated. Two twin beds, sufficient wardrobe space and enough space to get around were pluses. Perhaps the business traveller would have liked to have seen more plug sockets for the various items of kit we tend to carry these days. The TV was a fair size and came with access to a number of English language news stations. The addition of coffee and tea making is a plus though more coffee and milk packets would have been useful. The Pick and Easy bar was open throughout but the internal bar area was closed, perhaps for winter. Some of the hotel was also closed off and was obviously being refurbished.

The bathroom was large and quite well appointed with all necessary soaps etc. provided. A large mirror was a plus for the wet shaver. The bath had a shower integrated in it and the shower head was detachable.

Natural light was sufficient in both bedroom and bathroom and as our room overlooked an inner area of the hotel, noise was not a problem.

We did not use the hotel for breakfast, available for €9 plus tax but went to one of the two or three restaurants very close by where coffee and a large tostada could be had for about €2. Care would need to be taken with this if an early breakfast is needed on Sunday as these restaurants don't open until about 9 a.m. then.

Overall, an excellent option for a tourist visit.

Room Tip: Pre booking and confirming your parking space if required advisable.

Great hotel, rooms comfortable , location near everything, breakfast spoilt for choice, rooms were 82 euros a night.Great value for what we had.The sauna, jaquizi steam room a bit pricey for the hour though. But overall, our experience was excellent.

Pretty sure we paid 400 dollars for two rooms for two nights. Family of five and had to get two rooms. Really good location. Close to everything and a happening restaurant right next door. Kind of a modern feel about the place. It's not the four seasons but nice and a good deal.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was in a good location, within walking distance to the main part of the city. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a nice size room. The staff was helpful, friendly and accommodating. We were a family of four with teenagers, so we were able to take two rooms that worked out well. We opted not to take breakfast, but I'm sure the breakfast would have been nice to have if we were to go back. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, so the meals are not necessary to take as part of the hotel package.

After a bumpy start (1st room allocated was on the 6th floor alongside construction/refurbishment, 2nd was next to the elevator) we were allocated a lovely room; very quiet & comfortable. We understand that renivations have to be scheduled during low season and our issue was dealt with promptly and professionally.
The thing I love about this hotel is the attention to detail - spotlessly clean and quality of fixtures/fittings was superb, including a great bathroom. Beds comfy & all the mod cons. The staff is very professional and friendly, location fabulous (in particular fantastic pizza place nearby - Orsini Pizzeros). Parking limited but public parking for almost same price available close by.

We (2 couples) stayed at the Becquer for 2 nights in January 2014; we had booked it on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed.
We got a very good booking rate reflecting the fact that it was early January and therefore not in the high tourist season.
The rooms were spacious, very clean, with very comfortable large beds and an excellent bathroom.
We had arranged for garaging for our car and this was taken care of for us.
The staff were friendly and helpful too
We ate breakfast at one of a large selection of very good cafes nearby
The hotel is very well located, with the river just minutes away and the main shopping streets, cathedral and royal place all within 10 minutes walking.
We were all delighted with the hotel and would thoroughly recommend it

Just like everyone else has said, this is a decent hotel at moderate room rates. I thought the service was good. Breakfast was on the affordable side (under 10 euros) and both hot and cold foods were available. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruits and Cafe con leche. Our regular room was modern, but a bit too small, which wasn't an issue to us. We hung out more in the lobby. The only complaint I have is that the walls were too thin. Noises from the hallway and next rooms sound as if they were in our room. Our room was facing the back alley and a residential apartment. There was a bar at the bottom of the apartment building. It was loud at some point, but as we were dead tired from the long flights, we slept through the noise for the most part.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs.
