“Fab location, friendly staff but in busy noisy area”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

1 complaint....the beds are damn hard. One consolation, you can pick from a pillow menu! Other than that, the hotel was fab. Rooms were big, bathrooms were spotless, maid service was great. The breakfast was served till 11am every morning and had everything. Just don't try to order a poached egg! The hotel has a small pool, which is really welcoming in 40 degree heat, plenty of sun loungers for the space and also has good shade. Plus side, it has a rooftop bar which stays open till 9pm. In a busy area so expect it to be noisy around the outside of the hotel. Overall, I would recommend it

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel, as the rooms have more light.

My wife and I decided to drive up to Seville from Marbella and having searched for hotels in Seville with parking available we picked the Hotel Bequer, as it looked good, had parking and seemed quite close to the centre of things.

Our choice was a good one as it turned out, as the traffic in Seville is pretty "heavy" at best (a bit "crazy" at times just like Athens, Paris etc). The hotel location is well placed on the left of a large (for Seville) main road (the "one way system" in Seville MUST be checked in advance though).

We found the hotel after having driven round the block just once and I like many of the local cars, parked on the main road with "flashers" going and quickly popped in to check the location of the parking garage (I had booked in advance via the phone..excellent service by the way).

The garage turned out to be at the back of the hotel which as mentioned is right on a main street directly opposite the large "Isabella" bridge, and was quite easy to find despite the "local dodgems" zipping around one.

All in all, our choice was an excellent one, as the staff are very friendly and service is really first class.

The room was quite spacious; clean, tidy and "everything worked" including the (essential) FREE WiFi.

The breakfast choice was first class and again the service and overall hospitality was excellent.

The location is good as the main attractions, such as the Cathedral, are all within a relatively short walk (use "Zaragoza" street almost opposite the hotel to cut through the alleyways and the Cathedral is almost right at the end. Do USE the little map provided by the hotel..(or a Google printout) it is so easy to find main streets and the walking distance is actually far less than one would at first surmize.

The only "downside" of the hotel, was that the dining room where breakfast is served was not open for dinner and one was left with trying to find a restaurant close by amid the huge number of "Tapas Bars". (If you like Tapas however, Seville will be your idea of heaven). We did find an Italian one right behind the hotel and this will be the subject of a separate review. We liked it !!!

We can definitely recommend The Hotel Bequer to anyone wishing to have a short break in Seville, especially if they are driving there. We took the "A381" route from the Coast...total tolls from Marbella worked out at about £15.oo but well worth it, as it was a superb road (although a bit boring) and led us right into Seville (check Google maps for detail..it is really quite simple), Like most Spanish highways, the A381 route had quite a few nice little "refeshment areas" off the road where the pastries and coffee tends to be excellent and quite cheap (unlike the awful equivalents in UK , for example).

Room Tip: We were in what seemed to be "the new wing" and our balconies looked out over the main str...

Excellent location within walking distance of the city centre. taxi rank on opposite side of road. Well stocked breakfast counter with plentiful supplies and replenished when necessary. Crisp white linen tablecloths. Good service. Spacious twin bedroom and bathroom.

Room Tip: High floor. Street view is ok.

For European city standards this hotel is very good. We were met by a polite and informative lady at reception. The recommended free city tour (please tip the guide) was excellent. We decided not to eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food but found plenty of eateries nearby. The room/bathroom/pool were all clean/pleasant. Our room was at the back of the hotel so was very quiet. I don't think you could find a better hotel for the price so close to the main city attractions. We would stay here again next time we visit.

Stayed at Hotel Becquer past midnight to find staff still working. I had corresponded with them earlier to make sure they wouldn't cancel our reservations as we were arriving around 1am. The front desk staff were still there and took care of checking us in very quickly. The hotel also proposed a free tour of Seville run by students which was pretty good.

Despite some of the maps that were given, the hotel is actually very well located. It is not central, but close enough to a lot of landmark and it's a nice and safe walk from the Cathedral square to the hotel.

The hotel serves a continental breakfast with a lovely view of the city by the pool. The pool is another great feature, however on certain days, it was quite busy and there was very little shade. So make sure you bring your sunscreen. Towels are provided by the snack bar.

We ordered a room with two twin beds, the beds were separated by 2 inches, so it's was almost like sleeping in a king size bed. Not uncommon by european standards. The washroom however was enormous which was great!

I would definitely go back to this hotel when I visit Seville again.

I was comparing my experience to those of other reviewers, and there is some disconnect. One reviewer mentioned a turn down service. Nope. I didn't see that. Other things that folks mentioned which made me think they were talking about a different hotel.
That being said, this is a decent place. We ended up with a corner room at the end of the hall with a tiny window and a view over some kind of a storage area, but I guess that's the luck of the draw. The room was certainly clean and adequate. Decent but not great bed.
Good location, in that it's an easy walk to the sites you want to visit, but the area is lacking in charm. If I were to go back my personal preference would be to be in a location which offers more of the feel of the old city.
Helpful staff - one woman particularly so.
All in all, not something I'd rave about, but good value for the money.
Be careful with the parking. When I arrived and told the desk clerk that I needed parking, he told me, almost gleefully, that the parking was full. Luckily for me I had reserved a parking space. He finally acknowledged that - after taking some time to review my reservation - but he seemed a little disappointed. So be sure to reserve in advance, if you need parking.
One final note: Seville is superb.

Room Tip: I can't advise about choosing a decent room, because the room we had was in a corner, tiny windo...

We travelled by coach supplied Mateo coach company from Mazarron in Spain, our driver Alfonso was superb, we were staying at Hotel Becquer in Sevilla,

The Hotel was wonderful, clean, the staff were very friendly & helpful, speaking English for those who did not speak Spanish.

The standard of the Buffet Breakfast was superb, everything & more that you could have wanted, from dried fruits through to full English, this ran from 06.30 to 10.30, & everything was available all the time.

Facilities provided were excellent , especially the tea & coffee making facilities in the room, which in Spain is quite rare.

The Hotel is central for everything that the sightseer may wish to visit , & is in walking distance.

I would recommend this Hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 6th floor, the pool & solarium were above, very quiet, as was the Hotel
