“January 2014 Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014 via mobile

This hotel operated at well above its official star rating during our two night stay. It rates alongside hotels that I have stayed in but who charge a lot more per night. Reception, housekeeping and restaurant staff were all helpful and pleasant. It is in a quite and pleasant area and fully deserves its high rating on Tripadvisor. I will readily stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Monte Carmelo. It's an extremely well managed hotel with professional, helpful staff. The room was large & comfortable and although we faced the street but had no issue with noise. The hotel was in walking distance from most attractions and there were cafes & restaurants close-by. We'd definitely return!

The hotel itself is close to a lot of the city amenities but not exactly in the centre and therefore with what seemed to be a reasonable room price. Flipping through the various reviews for this hotel you get a very favorable view. This was the deciding factor for choosing this hotel. Reality was different! The room was of average size. Had a small window looking at a courtyard at the back. Hardly any daylight, we didn't mind that you're mostly out and about anyway during the day! Comfortable and clean. Staff were great and very helpful. English was spoken by all the receptionists we met. You'd think, but that sounds great!!!
The problem was… the hotel acoustics were such that you could hear everything happening in the adjoining rooms, either side, above and below. Secondly, our first morning we were rudely awakened at 6:30 a.m. by the people above using the bathroom. The water system made such a crescendo of noise whether it was running water, shower or drainage. That carried on throughout the day and night. I asked if it was only that particular room that had this problem but apparently it was an inherent problem with the whole building.
Bad insulation and terrible plumbing sounds. Apart from that it was OK!

Just returned from a long early November weekend in Seville. The Monte Carmelo is across the river from the city centre, in a fairly quiet residential district, which gets you away from the crowds but does involve a 15-20 minute walk to the main attractions - the Cathedral, Real Alcazar, Plaza de Espana, etc. We were initially given a room with a view into the hotel back yard, which made the room quite dark and gloomy, but the receptionist was able to offer us a larger room with a street view which, although on the 'Smokers' floor, did not smell of ashtrays. Pluses: helpful and pleasant staff, decent sized room and bathroom, fridge and safe, free Wi-Fi ; minuses: beds too hard for comfort and double glazing could not keep out the noise of early morning council dustbin collection - even on a Sunday morning! All in all, a reasonable mid-range hotel.

Room Tip: Some street view rooms may be noisy. 3rd floor is for smokers.

This is a good hotel, at a 7 minute walk from the Cathedral. Rooms are spacious, and even though the hotel is in the middle of the city, it is in quiet street so we didn't hear any sounds at night.
A big plus is the garage underneath thedhotel, but the biggest asset are the very kind staff at reception, especially Jesus is very helpful in giving directions or helping to find whats happening in town. Recommended.

We just had a wonderful 2 days here. Location is fantastic quieter than right in town but you can walk everywhere and nice ambience.
The hotel staff are lovely..Ana, Jesus and all happy polite and helpful.
The rooms are spacious well equipped BIG bathrooms and a fridge which is fantastic. Big tv too with great reception and excellent wi if which is great!!
hardly any noise really good curtains and blinds.
For the price it is fantastic..so close to river ...very nice area...and we parked in the street to save the €11 euro park fee as it was over weekend.
You will not be disappointed for a very reasonable price so close to the city and with a certain stylish charm to it. Fabulous choice and highly recommended.
