I needed a clean, safe, comfortable, inexpensive hotel in the center of the old quarter, easily accessible by public transport, for just one night. The Hotel Derby was everything I was looking for and more. The staff were polite and helpful, the room was quiet and genuinely non-smoking, there was an extra pillow, the mini-bar prices were not exorbitant, and the free WiFi worked perfectly. The heating was, if anything, too much; I had to open the window. This is not a luxury hotel, but it was everything I needed. When I go back to Seviila, I'll stay there again.

It is very easy to find on foot, and if you get lost in the neighborhood, it is easy to ask for directions to El Corte Ingles. The hotel is directly across the square from the store.

The one downside is that the little restaurant on the fourth floor is only open for breakfast. I can imagine this is a good option in summer. Yet I had hoped to have a quiet drink with a friend, and there wasn't a bar.

Room Tip: If it matters to you, request a non-smoking, quiet room when you reserve. When you check out, the staff will mind your luggage for you while you go out to eat or shop.

Clean, comfortable and well located within easy walking distance of all the main sights. The city sightseeing buses are 100 yards away and there are lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Would definitely go back and would recommend to others. Roof terrace was an added bonus and a good place to eat a sanndwich lunch bouught nearby.

Room Tip: Don't worry about getting a room looking onto the square as the double glazing and air conditioning mean that this is not a problem.

The hotel is well-located, with the ubiquitous El Corte Ingles located right opposite. It is easy to get to with public transport, but you can very well get lost when walking. This is not the fault of the hotel though, the entire Seville is like that! One of its charms, I suppose :)

Coming to the rooms, they can certainly do with some refurbishment. They are a little old and musty, and the furniture and also bedspreads etc look ancient! The planning is also a little odd. It did not seem worth the money, seriously.

In terms of service, no complaints as such. The staff was friendly - they would not go out on an arm and a leg for you, but they were not unfriendly. That must be pretty good for Spanish standards.

The best part of the hotel was the deck on the terrace. It was very nicely fitted out, and was a nice place to unwind after a whole day of walking about. The bright neon lights of the dept store somehow added to the atmosphere.

All in all a good hotel if you don't intend to spend much time in the room.

Great location but you will need a satnav to find it. The hotel and rooms were very clean and tidy with good in room facilities. Although in a busy square the noise insulating windows were excellent, the aircon also worked well so no problems keeping the windows closed.Good breakfast very reasonably priced.

For the price, this is a good choice for a hotel in Seville. It's on the edge of the city centre, so I might choose something a bit closer to the cathedral next time. Proximity to a major department store was a bonus, and a decent number of bars/restaurants nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are older, but clean. Average otherwise. Wifi was good. As with most hotels in Spain, soundproofing wasn't great. Lots of noise from the hallway. Contrary to other reviews, I found the beds comfortable. The shower did have lower-than-average pressure, but not a huge deal. Safe in room was a nice bonus. Overall, an average hotel with good service in a good location.

Seville Tips:
-If you've been to Alhambra in Granada, you can probably skip Alcazar. You'll be underwhelmed.
-Definitely go to the cathedral.
-Cosa Nostra (across the river - 15-20 minute walk) is a great restaurant to check out.
