Fairly good location but most definitely not a 4 star hotel.

The room was disappointing- 2 single beds instead of the double room we'd booked. Staff agreed to but failed to resolve the problem despite repeated requests. The room was dark and we were disturbed every morning and evening by noise.

Similar to other reviews, we found the staff uninterested and unhelpful.

Plus points were that it was clean. I'm certain there are better hotels in Seville though.

This is a nice looking hotel, quite classy in fact. It is very difficult to find in narrow heavily parked streets but when we arrived, hot and tired, we thought this was to be a really good stay. Hotel states air conditioned rooms, but this is not true. Temperature outside was a very hot 37c, so on returning to hotel after exploring the delights of Seville, we looked forward to chilling out in our air conditioned room. When we opened the door it was like going into a sauna. Even after a time the room did not cool down. Our bottles of drinking water were hot ! Asked the staff to turn up ac, were told no way, so asked for a fan to shift the air, this was not possible. We have travelled all over the world, and have never been so uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. The staff just were not interested in client comfort. Can I just add, at all times in the reception area it was beautifully cool, so the staff were ok, never mind the clients. Seville is a lovely city to visit, but San Gil is not a cool place to stay. Parking at 18e plus tax per day is a farce, and makes the stay very costly. We said we would be putting a report into Tripadviser, and they just shrugged their shoulders. There are lots of good hotels nearer the centre of Seville which I'm sure would consider their clients more.

In april 2012 we stayed three night in the old part of the hotel. Big room with french doors facing the courtyard - beautiful! It was a bit noise (and sigarettesmoke) from the courtyard/cafe during the day, so if you are reacting to any of that you should ask for a room in the new part of the hotel. But nothing during night, so you´ll get your sleep.
Breakfast was quite disappointing, you would definitly get better breakfast on a nearby cafe.

The men at the front desk should be sent on a course in smiling and costumer service. It´s quite uncomfortable when all your requests are met with a stiff face and you constantly get the feeling that you are "interrupting" them. (when asking for ordinary things like a map, you roomkey, weathercast). The girls at the front desk were much more polite.

Best tip: If you arrive by car, you should use their valet parking. Its totally worth the extra cash. The streets in Sevilla are extremely narrow + packed with cars, and it will save you som trouble finding a spot + somebody bumping into your car.

The San Gil hotel was fresh and clean, the rooms were compact but light and airy and ideal for our short stay. Roof top swimming and we dined in the courtyard to the sound of flamenco guitar a wonderful experience, I will most certainly use this hotel again!

at 45 euros a night for an off season last minute stay this hotel was a real bargain. We actually liked the neighborhood, full of locals rather than tourists, and while the walk to the Alcazar isn't the most scenic, it is kinda fun. The down sides: there is little public space, the rooms are relatively small in the new section (although modern and generally of high quality), and the internet connection which is free in the lobby didn't work in the rooms. They did give us a cable, but that didn't work either (and I know how to deal with computers). All-in-all it is comfortable, fairly pretty, and if a room can be had for a good price I would go for it. TIP: We found parking on the street for free. We were probably lucky, but it is there if you are patient and willing to fit into a narrow spot.

San Gil is a nice Hotel in the Macarena suburb of Sevilla. You can walk to the Center (about 30min) or take the bus (that's what we did, quite easy with a map)
The room was large with a good bed, good lighting (i don't like dark rooms..) and the bathroom was nice. A curatin or protection in the bathroom would have been helpful to avoid spreading water everywhere!
The breakfast offers a large choice, the tapas dinner was really good and cheap, with flamenco dance (available the WE)

Came with my son and his wife. Both our rooms were quite small. Plasma tv fridge and bathroom good. Our section away at the rear was only 2 years old so our rooms were modern.dark as window looked over vertical shaft with other room windows opposite so had to keep voile privacy curtains closed. Room heater efficient but neither of us could alter temp from 22 degrees c. So had to turn it on when cold then off when overheated. Shower powerful but small head which tended to spray outside bath screen and sometimes very hot water came out momentarily- not good.
Quiet location but a good walk from attractions and a few mins from nearest tapas bars. Taxis were 5-7 euros to most local tourist sites.
Breakfast at nearly 10 euros was disappointing for a 4 star . Fresh fruit salad was melon ,bacon always undercooked and very fatty , and the small buffet service area was easily overcrowded.
The small pool was supposed to be closed but I was able to swim in the very cold unheated water as I find it refreshing.
Despite all the above reservations we enjoyed our stay., and I consider it value for money.
