“Great place to stay.”
Reviewed May 16, 2012

We stayed here on our recent visit to Seville. I wasn't too sure about the location as it is on the outskirts of the city but got great value as a result. We booked a suite which was fab! It had a large sitting room and large bedroom, both with flatscreen TV's, a dressing room with safe and large bathroom with separate bath and shower. There was a patio off both the sitting room and the bedroom (no outdoor furniture but assume this is added during the summer months). We didn't have breakfast included but I had a look and for 12 euro each it was great value, everything looked delicious. We had room service twice and it was tasty. Staff were helpful also. We didn't use the hotel parking and just parked on the street outside the hotel with no problems. Taxi into town was 8 euro. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you can get a good deal, book a suite.

We stayed at the Barcelo Renacimiento for 4 days during the April Feria. Its a great hotel and during the Feria it had a free shuttle bus to the Feria ground in Los Remedios. The only down-side was that it is quite a long way from the centre of town, but we knew that before we went.

When we first went to our room, although we had asked for a non-smoking room we could smell smoke. We went straight back to reception and they changed the room without hesitation. The room was great - lovely big bed, full length windows with a view over the river, TV with some english channels (Sky News, BBC news & BBC One), mini-bar, air conditioning that worked, nice bathroom. The only things that could have been improved in the room were the lack of a kettle and the poor quality shampoo & bath/shower -gel.
The breakfast buffet was exceptional - freshly cooked eggs/omelettes, bacon, sausage, cheesy tomatoes, selection of cold meat & cheeses, fruit - melon, pineapple, orange, grapefruit, grapes and dried fruits (dates, figs, apricots, prunes), cereals, fresh bread & toaster, loads of different types of pastry and cake, fruit juice - including freshly squeezed orange, ordinary coffee and a nespresso machine (that had decaff as well) that also supplied water to go with the variety of tea-bags. For kids there was even a chocolate fountain with marshmallow dips, and there was Cava available in the ice bucket along with the bottles of mineral water.
We ate in the hotel twice - the night we arrived (at 10:45pm) we had a snack (cheeseburger & hot tuna & cheese sandwich, both with chips). it was not cheap but was well cooked and tasty and the price (just under E30 including 2 beers) was what you would expect to pay in that quality of hotel. We also had dinner in the hotel one evening. Their 3 course set menu, at E30 a head including a glass of wine each, was very nice and the restaurant was lovely - again not cheap but reasonable value for money.
Although the hotel is out of town, the C1 & C2 circular buses stop about a minute's walk from the hotel. It costs E1:30 into town. If you get off at the Prado you can buy a tourist travel card at the Tussam information station there. For three days it's E10 plus E1.50 which you can get back by taking the plastic card back. That allows you to use any bus and the tram as often as you like. The 3 days starts from when you first validate the ticket - the first time you use it - and lasts for 3 times 24 hours.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the river

We are staying at an apartment on the Algarve in Portugal and decided to take a road trip to Gibraltar. We stayed at this hotel for a night on the way back to Portugal. When we had booked this hotel one of the reasons that we did so was the site we booked on said they had free parking. They DO NOT, it is 16.00 euro per day. There is free parking on the streets that are around the hotel however. This hotel is not near the center of the city. The front desk staff were great and explained to us that there was a festival going on and the hotel was running complimentary buses right into town dropping off and picking up. The rooms are a good size and well set up with a desk and free WiFi. Beds are very nice as well and the room was quiet. We had had a full day of sightseeing in Gibraltar so just wanted to get a bite to eat and have a sleep. There are no restaurants that we could see around the hotel so we ended coming back to the hotel to eat. We were pleasantly surprised with very good service and good food.

We have stayed at this Barcelo several times over a period of years. The hotel is a great bridgehead into Seville from the outskirts of la isla de la Cartuja. It is easily accessed by road and has secure underground parking.

The check in staff are efficient and professional. The rooms are large, quiet, comfortable and clean. The pool area is satisfactory but no one goes to Seville to lounge by a pool! Breakfast is more than fine.

The hotel is not near the center of the city but on the other side of the river. The front dest was very helpful and they suggested what to do and see while in Seville. There are bus routes that take you to the center of the city and taxi fee's are not expensive. I would stay here again.

The hotel is slightly out of the centre, but can be reached by buses C1 and C2. The route is the same, with C1 being the clockwise direction and the C2 the anticlockwise one. So you can pick up the C2 at the Santa justa railway station, which is also one of the stops for the airport bus. Money can be preloaded onto a card and one card can be used for 2+ people, although we failed to find anywhere at the airport to reclaim our unspent credit. The bus stops practically outside the hotel gates.

Rooms are located in three separate circular towers, which each have a central atrium. The hotel is clean with spacious rooms and excellent quality beds. Breakfast was a good spread and included a chocolate fountain.

Bring your own shampoo, as the quality of the one supplied in the bathroom is very poor.
