“Not honouring complimentary breakfast in room rate”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

We made our room reservation by our travel agent in Hong Kong. Our agent confirmed to us that the room rate included complimentary breakfast for 2 per day as advertised in the hotel online booking system. However when we went to have breakfast in the morning of 29th Dec 2011, the restaurant staff gave us the bill and then asked us to talk to frontdesk to check if breakfast was complimentary. Then we didn't eat anything at the breakfast restaurant and went to talk to the frontdesk. After about 15 mins, the frontdesk manager said the breakfast was not included in our room rate but agreed to cancel the breakfast bill after we told him that we didn't eat anything. The breakfast serving staff was not helpful at all. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and for those planning to come should double check if your rate plan includes complimentary breakfast since this hotel will not honour their deal as advertised in the hotel website.

The building(s) for these hotels are just lovely - many courtyards in true Moorish architecture style. It feels like you're in an old palace. The service is also impeccable and the location could not be better. The bed is also very comfy.

But that's where the compliments end. The furnishings were old... not as in well maintained antiques, but as in old and worn. The rooms are odd shapes and sizes - I had to walk up a few steps to get to my bathroom which was cramped and the shower was covered in mold. There were hardly any lights in the bathroom too, making it tough to shave in the morning. Only one or two English news channel on the TV, no entertainment. And incredibly - no internet in the room - wireless or wired - which for a business trip was the death of me. I had to sit either in the cold courtyard below my room to get wifi or in the lobby, which then had few if any power points. Not a good business hotel at all, but for a romantic weekend, perhaps it'd be nice. I wouldn't go back...

Room Tip: I guess if you get a room closer to the courtyard you might be able to get wifi reception...

There cannot be many hotels where you stroll through a mix of courtyards, lanes and gardens to get to the breakfast room and by the time you return to your room you have walked about half a kilometre. Our room was elegant, very comfortable and well maintained - housekeeping was excellent. The main restaurant seemed quiet and a little old fashioned but within a very short distance are plenty of excellent places to eat and drink.Staff were helpful, particularly the guys who park your car - we would strongly advise anyone not to try it themselves! A perfect location to enjoy the many interesting sites in Seville.

Room Tip: The hotel is so individual that there are endless options for a getting a good room.

Las Casas de la Juderia is a wonderful complex of old houses in the old town of Seville. It is well located for most attractions in Seville. The patios and gardens are relaxing an beautiful (even in winter when we visited). We had a standard double and a superior room in the main complex during the 3 kings holiday period in early January.

This was my second visit (the first was a few years ago). Overall the staff are still fabulous - helpful, friendly and accomodating. The complex is great (although if you are visiting for the first time it may take you a couple of trips to reception before you are confident navigating your way around). Since my last visit, I felt the attention to detail in the rooms has slipped a fraction. I had a few minor maintenance issues - several blown globes and the (very small) television seemed to have lost several channels. Neither mattered enough to contact reception. Also, the cleaning was a little hit and miss (e.g. on arrival a row of half a dozen used shampoo and conditioner containers along the ledge in the excellent shower, bins not emptied one day, etc.). Nothing major - it had just slipped a little since my last visit.

Overall, the quirky rambling nature of the place, it's lovely patios and the great location make this is still one of my favourite places to stay - but attention to detail in the rooms needs to improve a little to restore it to the top rank.

Room Tip: We found the superior room wasn't actually that much better than the excellent standard double r...

It's probably all been said but I couldn't fault this hotel. The rooms had great character and the hotel is designed like a little village. Despite criticisms I've read about getting lost in the hotel, it adds to the character of the place and it doesn't take long to remember the way to your room. We asked for ice one evening and another afternoon we needed an iron and we received them within minutes. Breakfast was delicious - lots of great fresh fruit, rye bread (for the wheat intolerant) and other breads, lovely cold meats and smoked salmon as well as hot breakfast options including a variety of egg dishes, bacon, baked beans. If you want a quiet read over a glass of wine, the bar is perfect but livelier venues are closeby. Easy reach of the cathedral and the Alcazar. Would definitely stay there again. I booked through Expedia (Iberia flights from Heathrow and hotel). Checkout is at 12 noon which is pretty reasonable.

we where there at the end of january, it was cold, and i imagine in sevilla they are not used to cold temperatures. the first rooms they gave us, where noisy, unconfortable, dirty and very cold. we asked to change the rooms the next morning, and the rooms they gave us where even worse, but not noisy. old beds, old furniture, not clean at all... absolutely not worth the price! the worse possible hotel we had in andalusia! don't go there! good position, but very difficult to find...
