We enjoyed our stay at the Alfonso but found it to be frayed around the edges. Pros: location is spectacular and so is the service. Our concierge, Mr Lorenzo, even called his wife for a specific shopping recommendation for us. The building and rooms were still beautiful despite the occasional clogged drain, broken window and super squeaky bed. Cons: the breakfast was not good at all. Hot dishes like pancakes and crepes sat cold and undelicious on tea trays. You can also hear everyone walking on the floor above you so try to book a third floor room if you're a light sleeper.
