Although rooms are large and comfortable, and service extremely attentive, I have mixed feelings about this hotel.

Location is not great, and decor has -in my opinion- absolutely no "Seville feeling" to it.

Stayed in an executive room, with "Red Glove" service (as advertised). Again, service was very attentive, but the executive lounge was small and understaffed.

PS I stayed at the hotel in Dec 2011 for the Davis Cup finals (review says Jan 2012 because I could not find the option to select the correct date).

It is located in the middle of everything and everything is but a reasonable walk from the hotel. Only took a cab once, after a very late night.

We had a Panoramic Deluxe Room with the most wonderful view to the south looking out to the Cathedral and right over the Church of Santa Maria Magdalena. Watching the moon rise over the cupola of the church was spellbinding. The room was immaculate, roomy and very comfortable.

Service is impeccable and friendly as one could want. What was most amazing is that service is 24/7. At two in the morning our air-conditioner went out. Within 5 minutes of a call to the front desk a service person was at our door. He explained that he would have to reset the computer in the mechanical room. Within a few more minutes all was perfect. Computer glitch happens but the response was perfect.

Breakfast is an absolute delight. Wonderful selection and wonderful service in a lovely setting. Don't miss the almond cake, and pile some fresh berries and melon on it.

My only quibble is that the "spa tub" is quite small and was not working when we were there. The spa facilities are not quite up to the level of the rest of the hotel. But to be honest, with all that goes on in Seville, not something we go there for.

This could be one of my favorite go to hotels.

Room Tip: 6th floor Room 625, or other south facing room.

I took my wife there for our 1st wedding anniversary and the service, room, view, spa, jacuzzi, steam-room were all top rate.

They popped some cold bubbly for us upon reception compliments of the house. It was also nice to receive a complimentary bottle of bubbly with chocolate covered strawberries on such a special occasion ... all without asking.

The "panoramic view" room had a clear view of the city including the Giralda tower and was one of the cheaper room options in hotel ... I highly recommend this room choice when staying at the hotel (an added bonus with these rooms is that you are on the 7th and top floor of the hotel and can easily access the rooftop Jacuzzi (also with spectacular views), sauna, steam room and gym.

The one complaint we had was that it did not clearly state that the hot-food menu shuts down one hour before the end of service in the Burladero Restaurant ... so we were stuck with cold tapas only since we weren't interested in room service at lunch.

Room Tip: Book the "panoramic view" rooms ... they are great.

This is good 'boutique style' hotel rather than a swish, five star, city centre hotel (if you are looking for that you'll want the Alfonso Xlll) but provided us with a very pleasant four day stay. Definite pluses were the excellent staff and the high quality of the furnishings and decorations. Our room was beautiful and spacious. We ate a couple of times in the restaurant as we had some credits to use and it is excellent.

The location is great and within walking distance of all major sights - about 20 minutes to Barrio Santa Cruz/Alcazar.

Disappointments were the lack of wifi in the room (629) and a very average breakfast with no egg chef (something I am keen on).

Room Tip: If wifi is importtant to you check your room can get it.

Stayed at Gran Melia Colon in September 2012. The decor is very modern and high end. The rooms are very high tech (takes a few tries to figure out the lighting controlled on a panel), but overall a very cool vibe. The rooms are a typical size for Europe. The shower is the most interesting part because it's the wall that separates the bathroom from the bedroom but there is an automatic curtain that provides privacy. The hotel is also very quiet (we were on a high floor and with the window closed, did not hear noise from the street).

The hotel is located within walking distance of the major shopping area with plenty of restaurants and bars. If you are really into walking, you can easily get to the river, the cathedral, palace and many other tourist destinations.

The hotel staff was very nice, helpful and spoke English. Alejandro spent a good five minutes going over amenities and restaurants nearby. He also recommend El Cairo for dinner which was a great tapas restaurant.

As traveler who gets to Europe every year and loves boutique hotels, for a five star hotel, thought it was worth the money

After flight delays/missed connections and more than 24 hours of travel we happily arrived at the Gran Melia Colon in Seville. After an easy cab ride from the airport (the taxi driver stopped at a cash machine so we could get Euros) we were met at reception with a glass of champagne and very friendly team of bag check, check-in and concierge who quickly booked us for a wonderful authentic Spanish dinner near the hotel. Room was a good size, great balcony onto the street and all the amenities to make your stay pleasant. Comfortable bed, good size tv, good location to the major sites, extremely helpful staff, good internet connection. Had breakfast and tapas at the hotel restaurant - both very good! Would definitely stay here again.

The lighting system is, however, a little complicated...

I stayed here with a friend as part of a two week visit to Andalusia, for three nights. We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The staff went out of their way to be helpful an d friendly. The. Room was a good size for Europe where rooms can be extremely small. It was beautifully decorated, and had a lovely view onto a church next door. The hotel is located within a five minute walk of the tram system.. We actually were able to easily reach the hotel for the airport via public transit. It's also close to the old quarter of Seville, with easy access to tourist sites, great restaurants, shopping and entertainment. If you're interested in Flamenco, visit the museo del baile flamenco for a great show. We also ate in the El Burladero restaurant in the hotel, which had lovely modern decor and an interesting and delicious selection of tapas for a reasonable price.
