Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

“Nice place”

Lots of highly decorated and lovely rooms to look around. Nice garden area. Not as good as the Alcazar but still worth a visit if you are in the area

“Must see in Seville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

Had a lovely time walking through this house. The history, the architecture and the gardens were amazing. Pay the extra and do the tour of the top floor. The guide was informative and not boring. It is a definite must see.

“Pleasant accident”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

We had a free afternoon and fancied a walk and it turned out this was right round the corner from our hotel, wasn't crammed with tourists and is so beautiful. A calm visit - no queues, not peering to see round tour groups and an excellent audio guide to take round. A great diversion.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

This house is an absolute gem, with original paintings, beautiful gardens and a very cosmopolitan patio, with Greek statues surrounded by Sevillan tiles. Oddly, something that contributes strongly to the excitement of this place is its location: it is tucked away down a little street leading to Alfalfa...in fact, I have walked past it a good few times thinking that whoever lives there must be very rich, without ever realizing that it was Casa de Pilatos! The entry price is quite expensive (8 euros if I remember correctly), which gets you a guided tour and time to look around the building. You also get a little radio on which you can press the marked numbers on the map and it will play an audio clip of historical facts. However, I found it much better soaking in the beauty without the technological distraction, and being told these historical facts in the tour later on. Definitely worth a visit despite the price - the gardens, paintings and short distance from Alfalfa definitely give it its winning points.

“Just as impressive as the Alcazar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

Casa de Pilatos is a little palace that would be easy to pass over in favour of a visit to the Alcazar, but I'd highly recommend that you do both. Beautiful tiled courtyard rooms, a lovely little garden, and a great collection of Roman artefacts make for a fascinating place. The upper rooms are visited by guided tour only, but this is included in the entrance price. Just one quibble - the audio guides are baffling!
