Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

On a cold November day we were almost the only visitors apart from a bleary-eyed cruise ship party who must have made an early start. As the sun got stronger we enjoyed the beautiful gardens of the Casa de Pilotes, imagining the strong scents of the roses and bougainvillea on a summer's day.
The place is exquisite. Much smaller than the Alcazar, but should not be missed.
As mentioned by other reviewers the audio-guide is rather too detailed and dictated in a monotone. We were also disappointed that the staff did not explain the ticket options but sold us an upstairs tour that did not fit well with our schedule. We understand that the entrance is free on Wednesdays.

A number of interesting rooms, Roman style sculptures and a pleasant patio/garden. We only visited the ground floor.

Casa de Pilatos is a worthwhile attraction, the gardens are very well cared for and pleasant on a hot day.
The building itself is very interesting.
They have guided tours which will give much more information ,
and you get to see parts of the building that are not open to general public.
I'm afraid that when we were there the tours were only in Spanish.
Some guidebooks mention that the free afternoon is Tuesday , but they have changed that to Wednesday after 15.00H

The Casa de Pilatos is in my opinion a must see place in Seville. It has beautiful gardens and everything has recently been restored and is very clean. The guided tour of the Duke's apartments upstairs is very good and you can see plenty of art and period furniture from the past. The palace has many places where you can see beautiful ceramic tile. The book store is also very good.

The rooms downstairs contain some fine tiles on the wall but the rooms upstairs are highly overrated - don't spend the extra fee on that! All in all a nice place but not anywhere near Real Alcazar or Alhambra which are both uniquely exquisite (registrered on unesco's World heritage list for a very good reason)
