Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

A local woman suggested I visit this home; I therefore did not know what to expect.
The exploration of this private home, first built in the 15th century, was quite something. The different architectural styles are stunning.
For a few extra euros you will get a guided tour of the personal quarters of the family including original art pieces by well-known artists. Do splurge, it is worth it.
I also recommend planning at least two hours at this site in order to really take it all in.

I didn't know what to expect going here, but I'm glad we did. It's an interesting "house" to go to. We paid for the upstairs room, and I would recommend it. You get the audioguide for free on the main floor, which is all quite lovely. Then after some time, we went to the appointed place, and waited a few minutes for the upstairs tour to begin. A nice lady did it in both Spanish and then English. It was very informative and interesting. And we still got some time in the rooms to look around and ask the guide questions-which I love doing! I would recommend this place. I would also say that you should carve out a few hours for this location.

This "compact" palace really over-delivered for us. The beauty inside, the artwork and the garden made this a truly delightful visit.

Casa de Pilatos may not be quite as splendid as the near by palace, but makes up for it in spades. The Moorish architecture and 15-18c artifact is beyond compare. The lower rooms are awash with Morrocon inspired tiles. The gardens magnificent. The upper floor has carved ceilingS, frescos and a truly amazing array of furnishings and paintings, including Goya, Tintorento and Valesquez. What's best is that even though it's less than a mile from the palace, you'll have this home much to yourself. Add in an incredible detailed audio guid and the option to tour the upstairs with a guide and you'll agree it's the best 8€ you will have spent in Seville.

I enjoyed Casa De Pilatos more than anywhere else in Seville. The Moor architecture was just stunning. The gardens seen through arches were amazingly beautiful especially the blue haze of the allium flowers. Definitely worth visiting in late June / early July just for the flowers alone.
