Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

“Another beautiful palace”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

My top tip would be to go to the Casa de Pilatos early in the day before it's baking hot and when you can concentrate properly on the included audio guide - the translation is what I'd call 'flowery' - and be prepared for the two ticket options which aren't necessarily completely clear - you can buy a cheaper ticket for downstairs and the gardens, or a slightly more expensive 'complete' ticket which includes a guided tour upstairs into the living quarters as well.

The palace is beautiful, very ornate with stunning mosaic tilework and moorish design, and the gardens are beautiful too, well worth a visit, but quite easy to get lost en route.

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

Can't understand why this is ranked so low. Definitely a top five attraction. As impressive as the Alcazar but on a smaller scale. Do visit the upper floor which is furnished and has a completely different feel.

“typical spanish mansion”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Well it's authentic, gardens are fine, patios - cool at hot day. All you have bear in mind: tickets for the ground floor are quite enough. In that case you don't have to wait for the nearest tour hour and you pay less. All in all everything worth to see is on the ground floor.

“A Roman villa in Seville?”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

This "small" palace is a wonderful mixture of architectural styles taken from the middle-east and Seville's own links with the arab world. It is a beautiful oasis in the city and is well worth a visit. You can wander alone with an optional audio-guide through the lower rooms and garden, but the upstairs rooms are accessed only with guides. It is worth seeing.
