Planned to do the palace on our own but were approached while on line to purchase tickets by a licensed guide and decided to go with her. Glad we did, I think a lot of the information we received would have been missed otherwise. Take time to walk through the gardens

“an afternoon well spent”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Went to the Alcazar on the first afternoon that we were in Seville and having just come from the Mezquita in Cordoba and the Alhambra in Granada was pretty sceptical that it would live up to the hype.

It did.

Walking around the vast array of buildings, exploring the patios and the gardens is a very relaxed way of experiencing one of the gems of the Mudéjar style.

Try and time it so that you can spend time in the gardens relaxing with the resident peacocks in late afternoon.

“Go early and get out quick!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

The Alcazar in Seville is a mini version of the Alhambra in Granada but no less worthwhile for that. It is very popular and often overrun with tour groups so it's a good idea get there for 9.20am (it opens at 9.30am). It costs about £8 to get in (a lot cheaper if you are over 65!) and you can pay extra for the audioguide (there are lots of explanatory descriptions, so you choose). Many Moorish-influenced rooms with water-filled courtyards with magnificent tiling. Gardens are beautiful and feel a world away from the hustle and bustle outside. A better visit than the Cathedral.

“One of the "must have seen" places of Seville.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

It is worth to pay the 8€ admission. This sight is like the "small" sister of Granada's Alhambra. You can visit the botanic garden and marvel the moorish architecture and mosaic arts.
