Owner description: The Barrio Santa Cruz used to be the Jewish quarter. The streets are narrow and form a labyrinth. It’s easy to get lost among the jasmine-scented streets… only to discover a convent or a palace or a hotel. Many of the palaces have wrought iron gates suitable for peeping into their beautiful patios. There are many small stores and some artisan shops, as well as good art galleries.

It created the delusion that we could easily find our way back to our hotel along the narrow, winding streets that spurt off restaurant row. Food was little pricey. Directions back to the hotel could have been sharper.

Santa Cruz neighborhood is a lovely quarter very close to the cathedral and is worth the stroll. There are tapas bars and cervecerias on every corner and small hidden plazas. The food in the eateries is touristic and I would avoid eating there whole meals, but a beer with a plate of acetunas would always do.

Walking through this section of Seville gives you a living history lesson ... An experienced Guide or good book brings it alive. Look at the sights and enjoy the shops, cafes and restaurants.

Inside the Barrio Santa Cruz. Never felt so good about wondering were you are and how to surpass it :)

We stayed in the Barrio Santa Cruz, what an amazing place.
It was a warren of tiny narrow streets, with loads of little shops and bars. Great feel about the place and well worth spending time wandering around there.
