“Comfortable Hotel, Great Location in Seville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2013

The Hotel Fontecruz is very well located on a small street in the heart of the historic core of Seville. The hotel staff is extremely helpful and gracious. The decor is modern and 'design-y' with lots of greys and blacks, hip modern furniture in the lounges. As with any hotel the rooms vary in size, my first room looked out onto a quiet courtyard and was larger than the room I had at the end of my culinary tour when my group returned to Seville. The hotel has a terrific rooftop terrace with bar that probably can get noisy when the season is in full swing, but in October that was not an issue. Having a pool is a real asset to cool down and exercise at the end of the day. I'm sure this is a real plus in hot weather! I and my clients LOVED the beds--- among the most comfortable that our well-traveled group had encountered in any hotels anywhere. Good internet connectivity too.

Breakfasts were very good with ample choice of baked goods, fresh fruits, very nice juices, charcuterie, cheeses, and delicious jams. Eggs and bacon were also available. Good strong coffee. The hotel location, as does many others in this quarter, does not permit cabs to pull right up to the front door so you may need to pull your bag for a block or so to find a cab, or when you are dropped off by a cab. The streets are too small for cars and minivans. If that is not an issue (and the staff is helpful if you need help) I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

Cool reception and lounge, beautiful view to the cathedral from the rooftop terrace. Helpful staff! Breakfast was ok, good coffee and fruit. A shame that the pool was in the shadow, and looked like it could use some cleaning... the room was very satisfying, got one with windows towards a small backyard. Silent at night, nice. But, the door to the corridor outside was too thin, one could hear even lowered voices from the hallway. Woke up when people walked by our room. Really a shame. Great location, loads of restaurants and bars nearby. Don't try to drive up to the hotel! Really narrow streets. Found a p-house nearby hotel dona manuela (?) 5min walking, 20e a day. The hotel is close to many of the sights in Sevilla. all in all, I would stay there again. With earplugs :-)

The best thing about this hotel is its location one small block to the central square and the Cathedral. Easy access to the old Jewish quarter (barrio Santa Cruz ) with it's many bars and restaurants. The staff is young and very accommodating . Rooms are euro modern with black white silver and purple which might be considered garish by some but very comfortable . Breakfast is good with excellent selection of hot and cold items. Despite being on a very narrow street cabs are able to make it to the front door. Check with hotel if your driving because parking is difficult to impossible.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the central open lobby can be very noisy if the lobby is crowded with a large group of...

The fontecruz is located practically next to the cathedral, conveniently in the middle of touristy barrio santa cruz. all the tourist sites are well within walking distance. So are many restaurants and bars, quite a number of them catering mainly for tourists. Not the right place to enjoy local sevillian life (try the alameda de hercules, for instance, for that).

Decor is modern, not very surprising. 'design hotel' is a little overrating the place. especially considering the rooms. It is ok, however not sophisticated and smart. Maybe even a little passé.
Our room (standard) was rather dark, with a view on courtyard/wall. Quiet, but not very nice. Space is fine, beds are good, so is the bathroom.

Lobby is impressive. Here you get a taste of the grandeur of this building. Roof top bar area has a magnificent view and sun till late in the afternoon. the small pool is very refreshing, but gets shady early (at least in september that is) and too few lounge chairs available.

Service is good, friendly and attentive.
All in all, a good place to stay, for a reasonable price. we enjoyed it. yet this hotel is not very special or distinctive.

The friendly and helpful greeting we received on arrival at Fontecruz Seville was our first impression of the service at this Hotel. Over our three day stay the service continued to be excellent. The location is perfect. As you leave the hotel and take one turn into the square your breath is taken away by the sight of the magnificent Seville Cathedral. Most major points of interest were walking distance and the food choices were too many.
Lovely contemporary rooms comfortable beds and the Mojito's ? ...the best I've ever had.

There is nothing actually wrong with this hotel, a great location close to the cathedral, the river, bars, restaurants etc. I guess the decor is not to my taste and not what I would have imagined, the overall colour scheme and decor is muted, some would say drab. Our suit was comfortable and clean but very dark with no natural light, a room you wanted to get out of which was a shame, ditch the black plastic lamps, you can't read your book! The staff were friendly and wanted to help but they came across as keen backpackers, not quite up to the job, getting any food or drink outside of breakfast was pretty difficult and a bit frustrating. The pool area was pleasant as long as you could grab one of the four sunbeds! I'd like to give a higher rating but it the whole package just doesn't quite gel.

Hotel is idealy placed for the sights of Seville and many, many tapas bars. Rooms are OK but would have like a separate chair/sofa to use instead of having to use the bed all the time. Hotel is well appointed and teh staff are very friendly and helpful. Take advantage of the FREE guided walking tour on offer as it provides a good insight to the history of this lovely city. The only drawback was the noise early in the morning from the builders filling the skip outside the hotel with rubble. This is NO fault of the hotel as the narrow streets make it difficult to locate the skip anywhere else. I just want you to be aware of it because looking at the building rubble being cleared up the street this may take a long time. Other than that a very nice hotel indeed.
