“Elegant and quiet hotel, lovely breakfast, 5*+ star staff”
Reviewed February 1, 2011

Situated in a quiet, central part of the city, this hotel is a gem. Behind the grand doors lies an oasis of peace, quality rooms and a breakfast to really take your time over. Our initial room (a grand deluxe) had a huge bed, small sitting area and an ensuite that included two sinks and a separate toilet and separate shower. We stayed 7 nights during which a problem with our room was reported to the reception staff who quickly and efficiently upgraded us to an Executive suite. This was really lovely too. The free mini bar contains soft drinks and beer; the spa a steam room and sauna, the roof top a plunge pool and bar (which will be open later on this year). There is free WiFi throughout the hotel, and the suites have there own Mac. This is a lovely hotel that may not be as grand as some you have stayed in, but without a doubt the staff make this hotel 5*+.

This hotel is truly magnificent and one of the best I stayed at. Upon arriving we were welcomed into a reception area off the gorgeous columned courtyard and where we were offered a welcome drink while we checked in. Before being taken to our room we were shown all the many beautiful public rooms off the courtyard and the various patio areas where you could relax and order a drink and some tapas ( which we did after sightseeing). The mix of modern furniture in these area with the classical architecture in what had been a private palace built in the 18th century is stunning. Also the many services and amenities were explained by the fantastic staff, particularly Christina and Manuel (hope I remember the names right).
Our room was very beautiful and furnished exquisitely and luxuriously. It was elegant and yet modern and relaxing. It looked just like the photos on the hotels web site. The bed was so comfortable as were the down comforters. Nice sitting area too.
The bathroom was gorgeous too with a combination of high end tile work and various types of marble. We had a freestanding tub, shower stall with shower head, body sprays, hand held shower etc. , vanity with Bulgari products, and separate WC room.
There is a gorgeous spa and gym on the lower level that shouldn’t be missed even if just to see the great modern design.
The helpful staff recommended the wonderful restaurant Abades Triana and made reservations for us and also got us tickets for a fantastic Flamenco show at Tablao Flamenco Los Gallos.
Location was great too for walking to many of the historic sites, cathedral, and museums etc.
Every detail in this hotel is high end and about the comfort of the guest.
I highly recommend this luxurious yet relaxing hotel and can’t wait to stay there again.

Elegant hotel in a beautiful building about 10 minutes walk from the centre. The extremely modern rooms, with curtains instead of a door between the bedroom and the bathroom, seemed rather incongruous in such a beautiful old palace. Fitting and accoutrements were very luxurious, including Bulgari soaps and towelling dressing gowns, and large flat screen TV. Breakfast was very expensive, but very elegant with a beautifully laid-out buffet and a long list of cooked-to order items. The scrambled eggs were perfect and very prettily presented. We didn't eat dinner here. Service of drinks in the public rooms and courtyards was attentive and prompt and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. If you stay here expect a follow-up email soliciting a good review on TripAdvisor.

This is a really beautiful hotel, the open air lobby/courtyard and the courtyard filled with orange trees being two of the highlights.

The room was gorgeous, really nice and modern finishings, in great condition and with an amazing walk in shower that could have comfortably fit about 4!! I think the room number was 133.

The staff were brilliant, especially the young lady on reception (I've forgotten her name) who gave us loads of great recommendations.

We had breakfast in the hotel only one of the mornings as it was very expensive (€20 each) but it was a very good selection of cold meats, cheeses and pastries and a number of hot dishes that you could choose as many as you wanted to order (as they were small portions).

The housekeeping service was the best I've ever encountered with a daily clean and a turn down service which included a quick clean (of things like emptying the rubbish, changing towels) so we never had to ask for towels or ask for the room to be cleaned.

The only negative thing I would have to say is that we had a drink in the lobby one night and found it hard to find the bar staff but given it was low season and the hotel was very quiet it was understandable.

Staying at this hotel, this palace, has been one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had!! Starting with the personalised tour of the facilties by the incredibly friendly, welcoming and professional staff and continuing through the whole period of our visit to Seville (4 days), I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you arrivce by car you will need to have good directions or a GPS to arrive easily at this gem of a hotel. Gracias AlmaSevilla!!

Our family of four stayed at the Hotel Palacio de Villapanes for three nights in November 2010. It rained practically the entire time, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway! The hotel is beautiful - very stylish and modern, while still maintaining the bones of the elegant old palace. There were lots of terrific amenities and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I actually liked the location - although a bit out of the way, it was within easy walking distance of all the sights (well, easy when we weren't getting lost, which was all the time!). And the restaurant (we had breakfast and dinner) was excellent. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that in the evenings when we wanted to enjoy a cocktail in the common area, we had to go hunt down someone to serve us.

Would definitely return.
