“New, crispy clean, great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

Hotel is built in the former grand mansion. Has only 50+ rooms. Very modern. Great bed, pillows, bathroom, sitting area. We had very nice stay. great service, good breakfast. Great location. Altogether, one of the best hotels in Seville.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room on the upper floor overlooking courtyard. I don't think there is a better...

We had a lovely stay and can't fault anything in terms of the room and service etc. It was all very 'nice'. A comfortable bed, good couch and TV (Gran Luxe room), but after staying in many hotels around the world, this hotel was just missing something. There is nothing I can fault, but there is nothing that would necessarily make me recommend this hotel either. Friendly staff, but we were disappointed that when we checked in and it was commented that we were only staying for 2 nights, that no one mentioned at check in that it was a bank holiday on one of the days and to plan our time accordingly. That would have been the 'something extra'.

The location is about a 10-15 minute walk into the main part of town which we expected, but were wishing we had something closer on such a hot day. Given we were a little out of town, car parking of E30 per night was a bit too much and is the same cost as the centrally located hotels.

The pool is literally just to take a dip in and is only around a 80cm deep - it would be hard to have more than 2-3 people in the pool.

Room Tip: I am glad we had an upgrade to a GranLuxe room as the rooms might be too small for anything less.

We stayed at the ALMA in Barcelona which was an amazing hotel, so we were prepared that almost any other hotel would leave us feeling let down. While we were correct on some level, the ALMA Seville does an excellent job with many things: the service and staff are spectacular (ALMA must hire the best of the best), as is the overall ambiance, rooms, beds and showers. You would be hard-pressed to find a single thing wrong with these items. However, the hotel was undergoing renovations/upgrades and it was noticeable by sight and less so by noise, but it did detract. The location is a bit out of the way, but wanting low outside noise, this was a great choice. At the end of the day, it was about a 15 minute wandering walk to the action of Seville.

Secondly, the spa is really not a spa. It has poor/no service and is really just an open room with a sauna and steam room on the sides. Massages are outsourced and less than adequate for a hotel of otherwise great credentials and execution, and price.

A note that I want to highlight, is that ALMA hotels have perfected the sangria. It is all I drink when I go to Spain and whether it was the Barcelona or Seville bar staff, they were the best I have ever had. Even if you are not staying here it is worth a visit to the bar. Seriously.

In summary, if you are looking for top-notch service, rooms and sangria, this is a great choice... though I would wait for the renovations to be finished and this would be my perfect hotel in both Barcelona and Seville...

Room Tip: All rooms are unique and I was able to view 3 in our group, there wasn't a bad room, even the ba...

We stayed here for 3 nights during august, and had some good days in Sevilla. The room was 'ok' and the service was great!Enjoy the terasse during the hot hours of the afternoon and in the evening for a cosy diner as well.

When we arrived we were greeted to a personal check in lobby and we were given the tour of the hotel. Wonderful place with a great interior courtyard that is very romantic. Would definitely go back since I enjoyed it immensly.

They have it down: 1) great rooms, comfy beds, clean room and large and free minibar 2) great service (upgraded and terrific staff) 3) roof top pool-tiny but nice with drink service 4) breakfast elaborate (get your latte there-since someone complained of no coffee maker) and restaurant terrific!! Good quiet location!! This is the place to feel like royalty while staying in a renovated palace in Sevilla. We only spent one night but it was flawless including front row seats at an awesome small venue flamenco show!! They made our 24 hours in Sevilla the best it could be!!!

Room Tip: Upgrade if available, our room faced the courtyard.

We were coming for the first time to Sevilla and decide to take it easy booking what is supposed to be the best hotel in the city.

As frequent users of Top Quality Hotels, our expectations were high - which is kind of normal when you book in a 5 star Palace.

We must say that our first impressions were not fantastic. Ok let's be clear, the Palace boosting a beautiful entrance patio is amazingly beautiful, this old palace was totally renovated in 2009 (this is only 4 years ago), and we must be honest and say we were quite disappointed with our room. It was kind of small with no bath tube nor coffee machine (which is not normal in 5 star - but that's ok). More important and shocking for us was the important trace of mold in the room. We asked to change room the next morning which was done by the helpful staff but there again, disappointment, the new room also features some mold and was even smaller. We asked again for a change and were granted a suite (with also a bit of mold but anyway) but at least big. We accepted it as we kind of understand, the palace seems to be a bit run down and the helpful staff couldn't do more about it and couldn't be blame for decisions taken by owners.

That was for the bad point. Our stay didn't start on the best ways, and we were a bit nervous about spending 6 nights there.

After that, we only had good experiences in the hotel : the staff (front desk, bar, restaurant, room service, cleaning, etc...) was always very friendly and helpful (they really do their best - and we value that a lot) it was a plus, the bar might seems not vibrant but you shouldn't be put off by that, they boost great selection of cocktails, were very pro and good (try one of theirs Gin Tonic !). Room service and tapas were quick, efficient and really good as well.
The restaurant, even if seems without spirit, is a guarantee for a fantastic dinner. The food is exquisite : try the Pork Carpaccio with Hot Pineapple, the Beef Tenderloin or the really good Cod and Shrimps.
All of this experiences and the friendly staff save the day for us and at the end we had a really good stay at the hotel.

Some quick comments :

- the hotel as a rooftop terrace with plunge pool - great view, great sunbathing, but pool just to cool down not to swim.
- there is a gym as well (didn't use it) and a wellness area with sauna (very very hot !), hamman (too cold!), some showers.....it could be a plus but don't book it for that !
- location : it is not directly on the main attractions. It takes a 10-15 min walk to get to any point of interest, but the walk is interesting (you see a bit of the real Sevilla) I didn't mind but if you don't like walking a bit, might to avoid. Taxis come in 2 min and with 5 to 10 euros, bring you any where of interest in the city.
- there is also a fantastic traditional restaurant close by (5 min walk) - la Beccerita - hotel can arrange for you.
- Breakfast of 20 euro pp seems quite expensive, but I do think it was still ok, you got a selection of fresh juice, some pastries, exquisite tuna pastilla, cava if you like to start the day that way, and a good selection of hot dishes all included - as much as you want (so if you are a big eater that is kind of a good deal !)
- mini bar is free (coke, water, nectar, beer, ....)
- free internet

As a conclusion, if you're used to 5 star service in Paris or Italy, you might be disappointed. Be careful selecting your room (go for big). For the rest, you can really have a good stay here depending what you value most (see up).
If the owners would inject a bit of money in the Hotel this could be really really a dreamy place (pity)

Room Tip: go for a suite !
